Ethiopian police foil bombs set in city bus in capital

ADDIS ABABA, Apr 9, 2005 (Sudan Tribune) — The Federal Police Commission has said it has launched investigations to identify individuals who placed a bomb in a public transport bus in a bid to inflict damage. Police have intensified their investigations to seize the culprits by setting up a team of investigators.

Accoridng to the Ethiopian radio, the office of the police commissioner told the Ethiopian News Agency that two bombs set under a seat and on the side of a city bus from the Ambesa Bus Service plying the Kasanchus-Merkato route in Addis Ababa were foiled by security forces.

It has been learnt that the police managed to foil the plan yesterday evening, 30 Megabit 8 April, after receiving a tip off from the public.

Police also said a bomb exploded at 6 a.m. local time this morning at a bus stop near the Kotebe chicken breeding (farm) in Addis Ababa, but did not cause any damage on life or property apart from puncturing the compound’s fence.
