TRIPOLI, Libya, Apr 12, 2005 (PANA) — Libyan leader Mouammar Kadhafi and
Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo held discussions Tuesday on
the phone, concerning the situation in Sudan’s restive region of
Darfur.
The Libyan leader has been spearheading efforts to resolve the
crisis, which has dragged on for more than two years now.
He has met with all parties to the conflict as well as Darfur
dignitaries, warning all along against any foreign interference.
Kadhafi also raised the matter during the Arab League summit in
Algiers last month, insisting it was “a tribal affair” in which
Africa was best placed to resolve.
