SLA rebels say leader not in Sudanese war crimes list : report
KHARTOUM, Apr 27, 2005 (Sudan Tribune) — The leader of Sudan’s Liberation Movement (SLM), Abdelwahid Mohamed Nur, has denied press reports that the name of SLM’s secretary-general, Mani Arkoi Minawi (photo), was in the list of 51 internationally wanted people accused of war crimes in Darfur. He described these reports as untrue.
Meanwhile, SLM’s chief negotiator in the Abuja talks, Abd-al-Jabbar Dawsah, denied that there was any misunderstandings between SLM’s leader, Abdelwahid Mohamed Nur, and its secretary-general, Muna Arkoi.
Dawsah told the Khartoum based Al-Ray al-Amm from his residence in Asmara Eritrea that the differences between Nur and Arkoi is “something to do with their different approaches”.
He went on to add that such a difference is not merely between the two leaders but between most of us in the SLM as all of us have different ideas but we are all united in our aim. The SLM leadership is united, he insisted.
Dawsah also pointed out that extensive discussion were taking place inside the SLM on how to deal with the next stages, as well as on the SLM internal structures.
