SLM/A – On the humiliation levelled against visiting US Secretary of State

Sudan Liberation Movement/Army (SLM/A)

Office of the Secretary General

July 21, 2005

PRESS STATEMENT FROM THE OFFICE OF THE SECRETARY
GENERAL OF THE SLM/A ON THE HUMILIATION LEVELLED
AGAINST THE VISITING US SECRETARY OF STATE AND HER
ENTOURAGE BY THE KHARTOUM REGIME

The SLM/A leadership learned with shock and disbelief
about the humiliation and insult meted out by the
Khartoum regime on her Excellency Condeleza Rice the
US Secretary of state and her entourage during her
visit to Khartoum.

It was an insult we believe premeditated and carefully
planed by the racist regime. The end result is to
sabotage the noble objectives of the visit and
distract her Excellency’s attention from details of
the sufferings of the people of Darfur, caused by the
genocidal policies of the regime.

SLM/A condemns in the strongest terms this
irresponsible, barbaric and Janjaweedal act, and
assures her Excellency that the people of Darfur and
SLM/A in particular are fully in support of her and
her country’s efforts to end the genocide and the
suffering in Darfur. Efforts which we believe go back
to the era of the late president Roland Reagan, when
our people were saved from famine.

We appeal to her Excellency not to be distracted by
such incidents and carry on her noble work.
More grace to her elbows, long live the American
people’s solidarity with the people of Darfur and
Sudan in general.
