Chad begins pulling out troops from border with Sudan

Dec 12, 2005 (KHARTOUM) — The Chadian government has began implementing the clauses of the joint protocols with Sudan, and has started withdrawing its troops from the common border between the two countries, deployed to dislodge opposition Chadian elements who had infiltrated Sudan.

A_Chadian_soldier.jpgThe ruling National Congress secretary for west and central African affairs, Hassan Bargo, said Chad had officially informed the government that it was withdrawing its forces from the border.

Barqu added that the government had ordered all the western state organs, particularly those in Western Darfur State, not to allow any Chadian opposition elements to enter into Sudanese territories.

He affirmed that Sudan would not allow the eruption of any military action against Chad from within Sudan.
