Peace advisory, southern students honour former peace adviser

Gahzi_Al-Beshir_20040124.jpgKHARTOUM, Jan 25, 2004 — Peace advisory [council] at the Presidency of the Republic, in conjunction with Southern Students’ Union in Khartoum State, have honoured Dr Ghazi Salah-al-Din, the former presidential peace adviser.

The occasion was attended by President of the republic Staff Lt- Gen Umar al-Bashir, Vice-President Prof Moses Machar and a number of ministers and government officials.

Speakers at the occasion lauded Dr Ghazi’s efforts and successes in national work, particular progress made since he took over responsibility of the peace dossier. The success was brought about by the mature strategy he made with the aim of achieving peace.

The speakers said the occasion was held as an expression of gratitude to those who exert efforts. They commended the good initiative by southern unions in Khartoum.

Dr Ghazi Salah-al-Din thanked all those quarters which contributed towards the planning of the peace dossier strategy. He expressed gratitude to Southern Students’ Union and the peace advisory council for the occasion.

President of the republic Staff Lt-Gen Umar al-Bashir gave reassurance of the achievement of a comprehensive peace. He praised Dr Ghazi’s great role in supporting the peace process in the country, which he believed would culminate into a comprehensive peace agreement to maintain the country’s unity and peace.

Meanwhile, Dr Ghazi was honoured by peace advisory council and Southern Students’ Union.
