Gubernatorial candidate campaigns against corruption in Bentiu

By Ngor Arol Garang

February 23, 2010 (KHARTOUM) — An independent gubernatorial candidate in the southern state of Unity, Angelina Teny has embarked on her electoral campaign in the area with a strong focus on fighting against corruption saying it cripples development and stability of any country.

Angelina Teny (file)

Without reservation, she said hopeful that she will win the upcoming election and will initiate viable plans to fight against corruption through strengthening and reforming of the financial system and law enforcement agents.

The official, who served as state minister of energy, said in an interview from Bentiu today that the fight against corruption calls for concerted efforts by all stakeholders as it affects not only developing countries but also industrialized ones.

"Corruption exists everywhere in the world and has adverse effects as the vice takes resources and services away from the people who need it the most and only benefits a small portion of the population," she said.

She said her government if elected will work out effective plans to ensure that it strengthens the economic structures that prevent corruption.

She said through the fight against corruption, government will ensure it keeps track of how money is being spent and that all funds are used to benefit the intended target.

But was quick to add that the fight against corruption should not be left to government alone; the civil society also plays an important role in making government responsible and accountable for incoming funds and its expenditure, she said.

She has also called for increased support towards the agricultural sector so that levels of food insecurity and poverty can decline. With the emergence of climate change, whose effects are being felt globally, food insecurity will be more prominent in the near future if the agricultural sector is not being fully supported, she commented.

As long as people do not sustain better and improved agricultural methods, it will be difficult to address food crises especially in terms of sharing of food being produced globally, she added.

She said her government will encourage the local population to adopt new farming techniques that are sustainable and do not necessarily require expensive equipment.

"Our local population will be encouraged to adopt new farming techniques to help empower them and put them in control as opposed to having farmers who cannot afford to store food for them due to poverty," she said.

She herself and her husband Riek are corrupt.
The sign illegal oil contracts and steal alot of money.
How can she claim to know something about corruption when she is the champion of corruption.

Taban Deng will win no matter how you try with your husband to twist things around.

Even God forbid women to lead!

        Bravo Madam Angelina Teny,

You sound very educated and well informed about what you want to do to change the unfortunate status quo. You are a very smart and constious woman who will scary away scavengers who dream to continue feeding on your people’s resources in orphanaged way.

You will surely win as 95% of the people of Unity state are behind you. May God bless you during the campaign and take over governorship in April.

Can you tell me the name of that oil contract signed by Dr. Riek and his wife Angelina Teny? I have never heard of any contract signed by Dr. Riek existing or operating in South Sudan.

Or are you just exercising your usual madness and idiocy in your ancestor’s typical way of lying????

Gatwech, you have good reasoning but being driven by tribalism which has nothing to do with your future.

Gatbentiu (Dinka Panaru) and the likes,

There is a big difference between membership in the Board of Directors and the signing of contract. You guys are naive indeed to know the difference.

And besides, Dr. Riek and Angelina are not members in the Board, but Paulino Matip and Dr. Joseph Manytuel are the ones I read about in the company’s news.

And even so, please differentiate between being a member of the Board and being the owner or signatory to the contract. Learn the difference please because the latter could be more of an issue than the former.

I am sorry that you don’t know the difference!!!

Cheveron was the first American company that starts exploration for oil in the south in 1975,when the government of sudan granted cheveron.

In 1979 Jafaar Nimeiry, sudan head of state, broke up with the Soviets and invited cheveron to develop oil in sudan, and i don’t think that if Riek machar were there during that periods.

Also Jafaar Nimeiry, proposed that the oil refinery should be builded in kosity,i thinks that Arabs north are ready to do anything during that time with out Riek machar.NO UNITY WITH NORTH!!!

What about the White Nile, the oil company from UK which was formed in 2001 and own by a UK cricket owner. However, Angelina didn’t signed or has no signature in the list of those who signed the contract. The company has been accused by the UK ethic committee for corruption and unethical work and that is when Dr. Riek name showed up because the company have to turn in almost everything concerning contract to the committee . The company didn’t have enought tool and background oil drilling. It was reported in the Guardian news in November 2009

You needs to know the almight SPLM party will do all it could do for governor Tyson Taban to win where you wants him or not. You and your militia’s Ex-wife, Angelina, can go ahead after the elections calling the results whatever you would like when she lost the gubernatial race, but we in the SPLM won’t give it a shit.

Taban Deng Gai leadership in Bentiu has been a signle point of failure in SPLM amongst people of Bentiu. I wonder why he has to hold on something that is damaging his name amongst Nuer. He has lot of opportunities a head of him, after all people like Matip and Dr. Riek forgive him every time he messes thing up. I urge Taban to be an example of a clear transferation of leadership in the South. For Sure the SPLM can make him win because SPLM does what it wants e.g. bring Kun Pouch out of Upper Nile Electoral College list and making him the SPLM nominee is a good example. It is Taban’s responsibility to allow himself being manipulatable for destruction of Bentiu.

Let Bentiu be in peace under the leadership of this wise lady (Angelina Teny).

Well, the choice of who you perfers to casts your vote to is remaining to you. To vote into garbage bin or to a well known winner governor Tyson Taban, is upto you.

Consequnently, I don’t thinks it might be good idea to just toy with your solely vote to cast it to a looser as Angelina.

I bet you should allays stick with the majority when it comes to voting of majority’s leader like governor Tyson Taban for governorship of Unity State.

Don’t quote me or unless you are pretending as if you don’t know it that the entire Southern Sudan doesn’t want Angelina. I means even the Juba’s GoSS doesn’t wants to see an opportunist as Angelina to be the governor of Unity State.

She Angelina doesn’t fit in that job because she is currently the minister of energy in the Government of National Unity, and shit not did in that ministry. Angelina should not be allowed to hide her failure on Unity State as if she is going to do something in Unity State but not in the ministry of energy.

If she has nothing to do after her failure, then why don’t she just go home and re-dated her ex-husband, traitor Riak Machar, to quit hanging out with bitches and comes home.

I am very extremely SPLM but this is my state and i know who will do well at the development of our state, Governor Taban is nice person but we should give this chance to women ,because they didn’t try before i don’t care about SPLM bureau decision with independents candidates, yes we know some candidates do not have a good focusing at south security, but SPLM made a mistake when they allowed every areas to bring their candidates, they were supposed not to allowed that to happened at the beginning because they knew what will happen.

It is just a matter of time but I think Paullino Matip’w wife will decide soon to constest for that position. Their husbands have signed contracts for oil in the past so they can not go back, but their wives can. As for GATWITCH, this has nothing to do with education, it is simply a constent of who gets most of the oil monies in Bentiu.

Angelina Teny-the independent candidate seems she is looking for the position of governor, which i think it will be very hard for her to manage because their meandering between enemy for bribe will not create more harm than benefit in Unity State. She should be mindful for the waste that Angelina and her husband did when they signed unoticed oil contract with Bashier so that our mean enemy/Khartoumers explore and exploit our resources for no condusive benefits in the South.
This Teny should not make noise here in the South because their background is full of backwardness instead of forwardness.

Moreover, if you demand the governor position, then please step down from the SPLM position and go ahead embark hunting for position in Unity State while you already handover the position of Energy and mining you holding in GONU.
Taban must serve and take us to 2011, the time of uncertainty because you/Teny will be the first to run to serve place when you heard difficulties. Please just wait because we know your intention in the South.

Human is a separate legal entity, irrespective of being a wife, a child or blood relative and so on and so forth. Do not meddle each individual affairs with others. Angelina is not Riek and she is accountable to herself and not Riek affairs. She is not just a woman but a person with greater intellectual ability to reform Unity State or Bentiu. Respect her and being Riek wife does not diminished her as a candidates in upcoming election. I support and I am admiring her courage. If you can exhibit and evidence of her bad character, corruptions, or anything which affect her public life then show it to everyone. Halas! Politics has been degraded of all its standards in Unity State. What this woman knows in the following fudamental things to the interim Southern Sudan?

1-Taking Unity state stably to 2011.

Stability of Unity State is importance and strategic to achieving South Sudan’s strategic goals in Abie area.

2- Policies of Maintaining security between north and south, and that security is fundamental to the south-north border demarcation and referendum.

3- Maintaining security between Unity State and its neighboring states(specifically Lake and Warrab states ) besides removal of tribal treatment of things with these sisterly states.

4- Maintaining the back-up from all the Unity State clans to achieve the goals of Southern Sudan and the new sudan.

5-Initiating and maintaining scientific and rightful ways of governance in the state.

6- Fighting tribalism in all the state’s institutions.

The knowlege of these things by the woman is 0/6

Concerning corruption , I think almost every individual in the state is infected by corruption. Take it this way. If all the inhabitants of the Unity state towns want the present government to employ them for no return of work from them, where on the soil of Unity State will you find an uncorrupt individual. Corruption in unity state is the result of the civil war. If during war time an individual in Unity State recieves free money(I mean money without working for) from the then government of Sudan , this has a lot of meanings. Take it this way. It was a military strategy from that goverment and its Sudan Armed Forces(SAF) to defeat the SPLA by then. That free money was used to encourage civilians to leave SPLA controlled areas and come to town. That used to increase the number of civilians in the towns and consequently the number of militias in the towns fighting along side the Sudan Armed Forces (SAF) against the SPLA soldiers. So the free money was a formula to destroy the cause of the South Sudan. Mrs.Teny was one time a variable of that formula. She should quieten herself down.

A vote for the true cause of South Sudan is not for her.

Dear all, that is the real fight in the Unity State, corruption is the key in the southern sudan government. Unity State is the main corrupted state governnment in the south right now, since Taban Deng devoted the resources that suppose be used for the state development and left up people in the state for political survival and bribing all political bureau members and including Saliva kiir who is believe a quarterly half of $35 million dollars. Anjelina is the real one for the state, so he has no DNA of Arabs and looting things. She is trained by his husband Dr. Machar of stagin away from the public resources. She will win no matter what. Wasn’t madam Angelina a minister of Energy and Mining? What did she do as minister of energy and mining? she couldn’t even handle oil money and she didn’t even know how many barrels were drilled each day not even an hour or a minute. Now she have a brain to talk about corruption? What a jerk?

Can some one tell her sh is also a part corruption.

Being a minister of Energy and Mining and member of advisory board in JARCH OIL COMPANY is a corruption known as "CONFLICT OF INTEREST"

What a pig with lipstick on her lip?

My brothers of Unity State, ask madam Angelina and Governor Taban real questions and not just talks of talk. These are the people who will be a part National resources management team. If you were sleeping I have already answered the silly question above.

You guys are fluctuating between two issues. Are you talking about an illegal oil contract signed by Dr. Riek and his wife, or are you talking about membership in the Advisory Board? These are two separate issues!

First, signing an oil contract illegally was what you were lying about in the beginning. But it seems you are backing down from it and now you again lie about membership in the Advisory Board.

Well, there is nothing wrong in the membership of the Advisory Board but there would be something wrong with signing an illegal contract.

Being a member of Advisory Board is strategic in guaranteeing the government’s inner knowledge about what has been going on in the oil company.

But Dr. Riek has never been member in the Advisor Board. I read about Gen. Paulino Matip and Dr. Joseph Manytuel on this web as being members of Jarch Oil Company’s Advisory Board, which is good also.

But please don’t lie of any oil contract illegally signed by Dr. Riek or his wife, Angelina. This is a sinful lie! I encourage you to stop lying like that. It belittles you!

I don’t blame you, perhaps you knew nothing about management and if you do, you would have understood what I was talking about. If you believes, you do then don’t deny any wrong doing of being a member of advisory board.

There is something wrong and if you think there is nothing wrong being member of advisory board while being a minister of energy and mining then you are telling me that it will be okay for Madam Angelina to be member of advisory board of Jarch Oil Company when she is elected as a governor? Is that what you are trying to tell me?

Gatwech, get a head or stop spreading the lies and denial of truths. The point is, given the facts of your back ground, you’re nothing but a lunatic hypocrite who doesn’t know where he stands on issues and what is the different between what is right and what is wrong “ Good and Bad”.

What you do know about management to tell me that, there is nothing wrong being member of advisory board to any firm or organizations while serving government in the same field? I thought maybe you was too naive to have qualitative analysis/augments but you are nothing other than empty vessel.

Gatwech, “Being a member of Advisory Board is strategic in guaranteeing the government’s inner knowledge about what has been going on in the oil company.”
You’re too stupid man! Give me another explanation otherwise you’re more than figment of your imagination.

For your information, all the discussions or any other article that had ever been post on this website are all in the archive. I don’t deal with liar okay. I never said Riek and her wife have signed illegal oil contract nor did I back down from what I said in the past. I believes in evident but not on baseless and nonsense! Post your nonsense here to prove me wrong.

Obviously, Angelina Teny has done more than what you thin else you are transfering or responding positively to jealous behaviour toward Teny family from ... tribe(sorry you have to fill in yourself) but people like yourself should tell the trust.

That lady exposed Bashier regime weaknesses in caring out transparent role in Wealth sharing in area of oil. On other hand, Taban Deng Gai has not met 1/8 of people’s expectation in Bentiu, given what we thing he is during the war. Instead Taban Deng Gai is leadership may even create tention between Warrap and Bentiu people at grassroot level because of the allegations that 2% is given to Salva Kirr to develop Warrap, and that division 4 of SPLA salary is pay by Taban from Bentiu 2% which leave one wonder where the real budget allocated for SPLA Division 4 go to.

Instability is something you and I do not want to happen because we want our people stay in peace wherever they are.

I don’t mind really if Dr. Riek or Angelina her self is a board member of a oil company or not because it will go down to whether is wrong to be a board member of those kind of company while a leader, a woman or man, or that and this.

Let admit that a change in Bentiu from Taban to Angelina will bring peace but status aquo will create instability in Bentiu and its nieghbour states. What are you for my dear?

Dear all, Anjelina will be the best governor ever in the unity State when this corrupted leaders so called Taban Deng Gai is out of public business in Bentiu. Taban is there, no one is interest but interest of those who benefited in the 2% oil of Bentiu, especially, Kiir and his people in the Warrap State. Why Arabs boy Taban should rule our people in Bentiu? Saliva Kiir and political bureau should nominate him to run for the government of Khartoum state, instead of Unity State while he is northerner, not from the south.
        Thank you,
        Kuany Dak

I’m not up-to anything. I’m just a regular southerner who input his opinion forward to his colleague and public. I don’t have any problem with Teny family neither do they have a problem with me. But since she is running for the office of governorship to serve our community and all of us have a right to scrutinize her to make sure that we will held her accountable or any other politician. The same scrutiny can be given to Taban Deng Gai too. I don’t have any problem criticizing Taban and I hope you understand my point.

In my opinion, I don’t see corruption argument as a strong point she can make given that fact she is a member of advisory board of Jarch Oil LTD. Unless you believes in Gatwech’s explanation of being member of advisory board as I quote him below,

"Being a member of Advisory Board is strategic in guaranteeing the government’s inner knowledge about what has been going on in the oil company."
