Biemnom MP assassinated in Juba

By Ngor Arol Garang

March 14, 2010, (KHARTOUM) — Honorable Bol Deng Kot was slain by unknown uniformed men on Wednesday, March 10, resulting in condemnation by authorities and the citizenry of Biemnon county of the southern state of Unity.

Honorable Bol Deng Kot was a member of parliament in the regional legislative assembly in Juba, representing Biemnom constituency as a member of the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement.

During the selection and endorsement process of official party nominees in January 2010, Hon. Bol Deng Kot’s name never appeared though reportedly he had been selected by the state electoral college.

Without the endorsement of the SPLM Political Bureau, he chose to stand as an independent candidate. But his popularity in the area compelled SPLM leadership to promise him a parliamentary seat from among the 40 seats allocated to SPLM after the latest negotiations with the ruling National Congress Party.

Last Wednesday at 2 a.m., a group of armed men allegedly entered his accommodation at Jebel Kunjur, west of Juba town, fired bullets indiscriminately to scare family members and relatives living in the same compound and forcefully made their way into his room.

According to his wife, five strong armed men in military uniforms with AKM rifles and pistols wrapped her up and muzzled her mouth to stop her from making loud noise. "They rushed straight into our bed and started seeking where my husband was on the bed," she recalled.

She said she was forcefully removed from her husband. "I was removed and thrown away by two men holding my throat and mouth tightly," she said. "I tried to cry but could not as my throat and mouth were tightly held by two strong men while three others were wrestling with him."

Then they shot her husband to death.

Others gunmen were said to be outside the house. All the family members and relatives including the brother of the MP were confined to their living rooms as they had no guns. The group left and were never traced as they vanished into the mountains.

The government is quiet about whether it is launching any investigation procedures. Relatives say they brought Bol Deng Kot’s body to Bentiu awaiting transportation to his village of birth for burial.

Political assassination is not only morally wrong and a criminal act but it is a waste of valuable human resource. Southern Sudan need an atmosphere of peaceful competition, not intimidation by political opponents. Southerners need each one of them not lose to war, not senseless political killings. My condolences to the family of Bol Deng.

This 1% Dinka community in Unity state is bringing shame to the 99% Nuer population in the state. How come the small Dinka community of Abiemnom begins to kill their MPs?

Please, wait for the polling day during which you can vote out your MPs instead of killing them as the only way to get rid of them. This is barbaric.

Oh, Gosh, Dinka Boy (Akol Paul Kordit) have you seen how your Dinkas have inaugurated the killings of contestants in the capital of Juba. You guys don’t know what democracy is. The greed is too much. Stop killing competitors. vote them out instead!

This elections will bring violence, it should be postponed with the condition that the referendum must be conducted in January 2011. Shame.......

Do you know your self if you are very very stupid person i have ever seen in my life. i wonder what makes a relation ship between being minority and accident that has been occurred to the mp assassination and shame, what will you do as a majority person? Are you able to create your own country with out minority? every community has minority or majority, but no mistake for that which makes people to be shame or be proud, its okay you are majority what will happen? will it makes you a creator, i don’t think so it doesn’t make any sense, the only thing i know it just shows you as a primitive person nothing will add to you. In addition, if the honorable death was an assassination it would not be from Beimnom it may be your greedy people like Matip Nyial who is a cousin of honorable Bol Deng Kot, due he doesn’t wants him to point at him as his cousin from one family and one grand father.

Dinka Boy is not Akol Paul Kordit. Akol Paul Kordit is the official SPLM Youth Leader and a member of the SPLM PolitBuro, and under no circumstances will he talk like that. I know him personally, and he’s never someone to take a tribal outlook.

Please, do not stain your nice comments on this web with statistics that diminish and reflect tribalism on some minority in our land. It is not good. Our community does not know tribalism but only respond to those who discriminate us on the bases of tribe. The Dinka Ngok have never complained of being mistreated by Nuer nor did Nuer. That peaceful, coexistence must be maintained and not spoiled by irresponsible remarks.

It is of no surprise for such tragedy to happened.when thing grow toughter in politics you have to know that the end of that game is death. To be politician is your own choice now if i ask some of you that why is it that Bishope and prist are not guarded whenever they stand in front of congregation and yet politician do so? To me, the answer is because the they can not lie to people and use false but always straight in one direction with one word in the bible. But our politician has mistaken the politics to be for tribe and miss use of public funds for their family affiars. I wonder every body in south Sudan need to be a leader in every society now who can rule if think that leadership is the way of getting wealth?
Let your uncle play that game but the end of it is what you show today.

        Dinka Demonized SPLA,

I believe that you are from Abyei where Dinkas are half Messeriya and half Dinka. This is why you don’t know that Biemnom in Unity state is inhabited by Dinka’s 1% population in Unity state. The MP who was killed in Juba is a Dinka, not a Nuer. So his killers are more likely Dinka contestants who compete with him in that poor county. Please unless you want to surrender your small Dinka population in Unity state to Nuer as their domesticated slaves......

The person in charge of the ministry for security is a Nuer in Gambella. So, if a Nuer criminal is beaten, it could be that Nuer minister’s task to free the town from any criminal. This is the same thing Gier Chuang is doing there in Juba where his personnel beat Dinka criminals in Juba town. Does this mean Dinka are slaves in Juba?

Akobo, Tiergol ..., is a gone case which mean the next target in line are going to be Tedo, Gog and Jor. Who can stop "NUER CONQUEST/OCCUPATION [EXPANSION?] None.

        Kim Deng Dog.

Instead of thanking Monyjang Dinkas liberates then, you abuse them this is a ridiculous. How foolishly are you and Gatwech Tot Yual, James Raeth, Tut Gatwech and many more of Neurs mindless. Supposedly Dr, Nyagat Riak Machar Teny and Dr, Traitor Lam Akol Ajawin should have been facing that kind of political assassination killing, because they did make a harmful to Southerners Sudanese people no matter how long Neur society have been cover up killers we will get your roots in years to come.

I don’t see what you are claiming that, ’’ Neurs are mighty warriors when the reality Neurs have got a bad records of sabbotaging the SPLA/SPLM/Movement in the beginning. The history itself will denying Neur warriors because this is something obviously and I can refute your mistaken just to reminder you to be a way of that word and trying to recognized your big mistake first. In the SPLA/Movement and within Upper Nile Regions there was no single small location being captureed without Dinka in there even when Riak Machar Teny end up of coming back to SPLA/SPLM, he did nothing but leaving many locations be retaken by his master Omar al Bashir. Is that show Neurs people are warriors or fearful to real ememy.? Perhaps, there is no doubt that, Neurs are the people of making destruction and desperation of needing leadership in the wrong time and wrong place. It is true that, we will be remembering any single Neur politican just for the bad history of Dr, Nyagat Riak Machar Teny as well as Dr, Traitor Lam Akol Ajawin also will be remember as for being a collaborator man and anti devlopment of Southern Sudan nation otherwise, you guys keep quite because barking like will increasingly deniable to those did nothing during the SPLA/SPLM/Movement.

To: SPLM/GOSS. I wish Southern Sudan government must not allowing this political assassination if people are really wanted to make things go smoothly. As a human being and individual seeking freedom then, there is no need to control any individual who want to go different way and so the killing of late Bol Deng Kot from Biemnhom Community must be investigate seriously and those who did it must be brought to justice. Riak Machar Teny had murdering hundred of thousand people in Southern Sudan when he was claiming that, his view dose not go with the late chairman Dr, John Garang and now he is in Southern Sudan freely with too many crimes he had committed but no body had assassinated him why this innocent MP Bol Deng Kot lost life for what reason.?

Wjoever did this has to be brought to face the full force of the law, this are organised criminals, the state security agencies should use all their resources to bring such criminals to justice. It is not acceptable for any MP of south sudan to be killed in this way inside the capital of his country, MP are representatives of the people so they should be protected and feel safe int heir capital, We trust in interior minister to bring this terrorist to justice.

This raises another question, Should south sudan increase the number of security agencies? to deal with organize crimes, to deal with drug and human trafficking and to deal with externally organised crimes like terrorism, three extra units should be added, two security agencies for the police and one more nationally to work on counter-terrorism. because we cannot allow people to be killed like that it is not acceptable inside the capital of south sudan because no body know who might be the next MP or next minister to be killed, if people are being killed by unknown gunmen inside the capital then what will happen to the innocent people who live in the outside villages? its time to put more strength and work into the security systems, too much talking is not enough when people are dying like this.

They say the police has launch an investigation to the killing already, The fastest way to catch this killers is for the wife of the victim, his family and friends to cooperate with the authorities fully, they have to tell what happened, did they see the faces of the killers, how tall were they, what language they spoke, or what accent they sound like, how many of them, which way they came in and which way they left, did the victim have any fights or quarrels with anyone that day or day before or during his elections in bentiu, does he have any known enemies in politics or other business, all this have to be taken down and put into consideration? those innocent has to be ruled out from the investigation, no one wether foreigner or local should be spared if found responsible because the type and timing of this killing is just not good.

MP Zackaria Bol Deng Kot from Dinka Ruweng of Biemnom County in Unity State was killed! What a misereable and an absurd news is that? Zackaria Bol Deng Kot, who was appointed by the Citizen of Dinka Ruweng Community of Biemnom County in Unity State on May 2006, to Represent the DINKA RUWENG COMMUNITY OF BIEMNOM COUNTY passed away without any clear evident of his death.

Zackaria Bol Deng Kot, a son of Dinka Ruweng Biemnom County died in a way which is really very ridiculous. It could be better if he died in a war zone. Zackaria Bol Deng Kot from JAMUS BATALLION joined the Movement in 1983 when Ruweng Region of Dinka Ruweng Community of Biemnom was totally been destroyed by Arabs. That was the same year when the Paramount Chief of Dinka Ruweng Community of Biemnom Mr Camilo Kuot Kur Kuot was assassinated by Arabs. Zackaria Bol Deng Kot, a man who captured Muhammed El-Nur a Governor of Mayom County on August 1986 today appeared to be killed by anonymous people in Juba. I believe the saying said "brave people are always known through their braveness, but afterward, they died just in a simple manner". This is what happened today to our belove and brave leader Mr MP Zackaria Bol Deng Kot of Dinka Ruweng Community of Biemnom County in Unity State.

Zackaria Bol Deng Kot fought in many towns of Southern Sudan such as Mayom, Ayod, Kurmuk, Nasir, Jakou, Malualgau, Atar, Abuong, Maluth, Yei, Marobo, Kejokeji, Tumbura, Mundri, Juba, Lyeria and Maridi. Then again, he did is operation in the area of Aweil when his Jamus Battalion under Kawach Makuei was deployed in the area of Aweil and destroyed the Railway of Wau on February 1984.

Dinka Ruweng of Biemnom County in Unity State had been facing many eradical issues since 1969 until today. Dinka Ruweng Community of Biemnom County in Unity State composes of Six Chiefdoms or Clans. Here are they:

    - Mijuan
    - Amaal
    - Abaang
    - NgongChill
    - Manteeng
    - Thiyeer

So, MP Zackaria Bol Deng Kot is from AMAAL clan of Dinka Ruweng Community of Biemnom County in Unity State. Dinka Ruweng Community has been silent. A lot of people today they don’t know what Ruweng is. As it appeared in the news above that Bol Deng Kot is represent Biemnom County. That is wrong. Bol Deng Kot represent Dinka Ruweng Community of Biemnom County in Unity State. The one who is Representing Biemnom is Arop Yuot Kamaan. Arop Yuot Kamaan is the Commissioner of Biemnom nowadays. Biemnom on the other hand, is the County Dinka Ruweng. The report which came up saying that Bol Deng Kot is representing Biemnom is completely wrong and wrong. Biemnom is a County itself, but who are the people inhibating this County? The people inhibating this county are DINKA RUWENG of Biemnom.

I know that there are some people like Dinka Panaruu Community who wants to mess up this name and therefore, they call themselve Ruweng. This is wrong. Panaruu are not Ruweng. We Dinka Ruweng Community of Biemnom know that some people like Dinka Panaruu wants to prevaricated the right of Dinka Ruweng to be call Ruweng. It will not happen. Last year of 2008 when Abyei Ruling was forwarded to the people of Jok of Ngok-Abyei and Oil was given to the North, Benjamin Mijak Dau claimed the land being given to the North as the land of Dinka Panaruu and in the news it was said that Benjamin Mijak Dau represent Ruweng. No land of Dinka Panaruu had been forwarded to the North, but the land of Dinka Ruweng of Biemnom County was given to the North by Deng Alor Kuol. That was a political propaganda from Dinka Panaruu that they wants to take the name Ruweng just because that they should be known as the people whose land so call TOOR ALIINY(Heglig) was belong to them because of oil. Benjamin Mijak Dau, a MP in the Southern Sudan Parliament represent Dinka Panaruu and that is it. We Dinka Ruweng Community of Biemnom County in Unity State, we can not be represent by someone whom we don’t know. After all, Dinka Ruweng of Biemnom County and Dinka Panaruu of Panrieng County are totally different. Dinka Ruweng is the one with its Paramount Chief call Kur Kuot Kur whose son Camilo Kuot Kur Kuot became a Paramount Chief after the death of his father Kur Kuot Kuot, while Dinka Panaruu is the one with its Paramount Chief call Miakuei Bilkuei.

Lastly, in 1998, Benjamin Mijak Dau said it in Nairobi when he was having meeting with his people of Dinka Panaruu that Dinka Ruweng Community of Biemnom County in Unity State is a small County and its should not have a county at all. So, there the people of Dinka Panaruu adopt the name Ruweng while they were not call Ruweng from the very beginning. Shame on them. Our problems we Dinka Ruweng Community of Biemnom County with Dinka Panaruu should not supposed to be discussed on this website, but little clues have to be given to some people who don’t know what is going on behind between Dinka Panaruu of Panrieng County and Dinka Ruweng of Biemnom County in Unity State.

        Dear Dinka Boy,

I do know that we are all Dinka-Ngok, but the reality on the ground is not known by the other people like you. What is going on between Dinka Ruweng of Biemnom County and Dinka Panaruu of Panrieng is not something which need to be discussed on the website always. Dinka Panaruu are been blind fooled by their leader Benjamin Mijak Dau that Dinka Panaruu is Ruweng. Dinka Ruweng never been combined with Dinka Ruweng of Biemnom, but people of Dinka Panaruu think that they will overcome Dinka Ruweng of Biemnom County by calling them Aloor. Aloor is not our name, but a name being created by Dinka Panaruu.

Take example of Dinka Aweil. Dinka Aweil and Dinka Twic of Bhar-el-ghazal are not the same. What combined these two Dinka groups is just the name Bhar-el-ghazal, but Dinka Aweil are not called as Dinka Twic of Bhar-el-ghazal. So, that is the same thing to Dinka Ruwweng of Biemnom and Dinka Panaruu. The name which combine all of us is Apadang. Dinka Apadang includes Ngok Lual Yak, Paweny, Panaruu, Dinka Jok of Abyei, Dongiol, Abaliang, Ageer, Luach and Ruweng. So, Dinka Panaruu are not Ruweng Completely my dear brother, but they wants to sabotage our name Ruweng according to what was been told to them by their leader Benjamin Mijak Dau. Benjamin Mijak Dau is the one who proposed Dinka Panaruu to be Ruweng.

Well, I’m agree if the like the name Ruweng. But, however, they should have to respect the indigenous people of Dinka Ruweng of Biemnom County. In 1998, Mijak Dau said that Dinka Ruweng of Biemnom County should not have a county. That sound ridiculous and I don’t see the point why Benjamin Mijak Dau said that. After all, although Dinka Ruweng of Biemnom County are small, we Dinka Ruweng of Biemnom County we are not looking for people to come into our Community in order to make it big. We are small, but we need to remamin small in the way we are. We can not join Panaruu nor we can not join Nuer or Dinka Jok of Abyei even. Dinka Panaruu are not Ruweng. I know that most of the people from Dinka panaruu the keep calling themselve Ruweng, but at last they will admitted their name Panaruu. We Dinka Ruweng Community of Biemnom know Dinka Panaruu very well through the way the do their things.

If Dinka panaruu said that they are Ruweng, how do Nuer Community call them? And how do Nuer Community call Dinka Ruweng Community of Biemnom? To be honest with you, Nuer call Dinka Panaruu as "JAANG BILKUEI" and Nuer call Dinka Ruweng of Biemnom as "JAANG RUWEENG". It is a shame to Dinka Panaruu community. They tried to loss their Identity Panaruu. I’m not happy with the way these people of Panaruu call themselves Ruweng, while they are not.

        Thank you
