Rumbek prepares for Sudan school certificate exam

By Manyang Mayom

March 25, 2011 (RUMBEK) – Preparations for the Sudan School certificate examinations are being completed in Rumbek according to the official responsible for the exam.

Over 500 students from various education centers are sitting the exam this year at senior secondary schools in Rumbek.

The deputy chairman for academic affairs for the Sudan school certificate in Rumbek, Jacob Alier Mayol, told the press on Friday that preparations for the exam are complete and examination will begin on 28 March. He said that school administration will start general briefing on Monday.

Alier said that feeding students was a problem as often candidates are late as they are looking for food in the market. The school was due to receive food but it has not arrived.

He expressed hope that security and a fence could provided to create an environment “favorable to students”.

South Sudan’s Lakes state has three exam centers; Rumbek Senior secondary school with 238 student register; Rumbek town with 148 candidates; and Mapuordit with total of 145 student’s candidates.
