S. Sudan’s Kiir hires new ruling party secretariat officials

November 17, 2015 (JUBA) – Barely a month after he dissesolved the country’s ruling Sudan Peoples Liberation Movement (SPLM) party secretariat, the South Sudanese President Salva Kiir has issued a new directive appointing advisors, secretaries and deputies.

The move comes days after Kiir appointed the water and irrigation minister, Jemma Nunu Kumba the ruling party’s deputy secretary general.

According to the decree, five advisors will serve at the secretariat. They include Mangar Marial Amerdit (political affairs and mobilisation), John Dabi (administration and organisation), Acuil Malith Banggol (syndicated and popular organisations), Lual Deng Achuek (research and planning) and Marial Awou for finance.

The president also appointed eight secretaries to work at the ruling party secretariat. Among those named were Antipas Nyok (political affairs and mobilisation, Adhieu Martin Manyiel (administration and organization), Anthony Joseph (popular and syndicated organizations), Bol Makueng Yol (culture, information and telecommunications), Henry Wani (research, training and planning), Charles Abdu (finance and economy), Angui Diing (external affairs) and Nifana Bol for social affairs.

Also mentioned in the decree read on the state-owned SSTV were eight deputy secretaries. These include Kennedy Clement (political affairs and mobilization), Susana Remy (administration and organization), Chier Rehan (popular and syndicated organization), Deng Mading (culture, information and telecommunication), John Arimo (research, training and planning), John Chuan Bakingi (finance and economy), Santo Malek Anei (external affairs) and Mary Paul will be over the party’s social welfare.

On 16 October, in a meeting chaired by the chairperson of the ruling part, Kiir; the SPLM decided ti dissolve all the leadership structures with the only exception of the office of the president.
