April 7, 2016 (KHARTOUM) - Sudan People’s Liberation Movement - North (SPLM-N) Thursday said its fighters have achieved new victories against the Sudan Armed Force (SAF) troops in the South Kordofan and Blue Nile states.

In two separate statements extended to Sudan Tribune, SPLM-N spokesperson Arnu Ngutulu Lodi said their fighters inflected heavy losses on SAF and its allied militias in Jebel al-Halluf area in the far eastern part of South Kordofan near the South Sudanese border.

SPLM-N forces in South Kordofan managed to destroy the military command of SAF mobile force in Jebel Alhalluf area on Wednesday 6 April 2016 at 6:00pm (local time), Lodi said.

He added they killed 10 Sudanese troops and destroyed four tanks, two trucks loaded with supplies; a fuel tanker, and five four-wheel drive vehicles.

The Sudanese army seeks to contains the rebels inside the two southern Sudanese states and take the control of border areas with the Republic of South Sudan. Khartoum says the SPLM-N is backed by Juba government.

On the fighting in the Blue Nile state, Lodi said their fighters defeated the Sudanese army in Mufwa area located south of Kurmuk town near the Ethiopian border on Tuesday 5 April.

He claimed they killed 30 government soldiers and lost five of its members.

The SPLM-N managed to seize 55 vehicles: including four-wheel drive vehicles and trucks and important number of weapons and communication devices, the official spokesperson further said.

SAF spokesperson was not reachable for comment.
