Eritrean president salutes Sudanese counterpart
ASMARA, July 8, 2005 (Sudan Tribune) — Eritrean president Isayas Afewerki has sent congratulatory messages to President Omar al-Bashir, John Garang and Ali Osman Muhammad Taha for being appointed president, first vice-president and second vice-president of the government of the Republic of Sudan, respectively.
Accrding to the Eritrean radio, Isayas said in his messages: I would like to express my delight on my behalf and on behalf of the people and government of Eritrea on the occasion when the comprehensive political agreement have began to be implemented.
He added: I would like to express my best wishes that the united national government of Sudan would bring about a comprehensive political solution to all pending issues.
Reaffirming our initiatives and promises on the Sudanese issues, President Isayas said, Eritrea’s efforts would continue until the political task achieved its ultimate goal.
Finally, he said, I wish you success in your work, and I wish peace and stability to the brotherly people of Sudan.
