Africa delegation to visit Sudan Saturday

Sept 20, 2005 (KHARTOUM) — A delegation from Africa Union (AU) led by Patrick Mazimhaka, the deputy chairman of the AU commission, is expected to arrive in the country on Saturday 24 September on a four-day visit.

While in Sudan, the delegation is expected to assess the progress made by Sudan in its preparations to host the forthcoming AU summit scheduled to be held in January 2006 in Khartoum.

Speaking to SUNA, the rapporteur of the preparation committee, ambassador Omar Baridu, has said that various agreements would be signed with Sudan on matters regarding its commitments towards the summit such as the preparation of conference halls and accommodations as well as other issues.

He further said that the delegation is expected to hold talks with the Al-Tayib Ibrahim Mohamed Khair, the chairman of higher committee, and also with the foreign minister.

The delegation is expected to hold a press conference at the end of its visit.
