Two explosives in Ethiopian capital cause minor damage – police

Jan 23, 2006 (ADDIS ABABA) — The Addis Ababa Police Commission said two explosives blasted on Sunday night in two places in the metropolis have caused minor property damage.

Investigations are underway to seize suspects.

The police told the state-run ENA on Monday that explosion occurred in the area popularly called Teklehaimanot, near the Commercial Bank of Ethiopia around 12:50am broke windows and doors of the bank and also inflicted similar damage to windows of a nearby hotel.

Similarly, a blast occurred beneath the compound of the Black Lion Hospital from outside at 3:15a.m. same night shattered windows of a dinning room and dormitory building of medical students, it said.

The commission said the two explosions caused no human casualty.

It said police have launched extensive investigations to identify the cause and apprehend suspects.

The police has called on the public to render support in its effort to trace down suspects.
