Sudanese militant group offers reward for killing US envoy

Mar 7, 2006 (KHARTOUM) — A new Sudanese organization has called for the killing of the US chargé d’affairs in Khartoum, Cameron Hume, and offered a reward of 100m Sudanese pounds (approximately 40,000 dollars) on his head, according to the ‘statement number one’, issued by the ‘Blood Brigades’.

The statement issued by the Blood Brigades, a new armed movement as its name suggests, and never heard of it before, says: “We shall not be satisfied by anything less than the head of this wicked infidel, even if repents or offers an apology. Apology is worthless for people like the respected Prophet Mohamed, peace be upon him, and by God, even his head will not heal our wounds.”

On the other hand, the Sudanese Youth Lawyer’s Forum has announced its solidarity with the Sudanese Ulema (religious scholars) Authority for the defence of Prophet Mohamed.

One of the youth lawyers, Mutaz Mohamed, reaffirmed they were fully prepared to take over the prosecution in the case filed against the US charge d’affairs in Khartoum and they will not relent until justice is done.

Sudanese newspapers last week reported that Cameron had said to a Sudanese businessman in a reception at the US Embassy in Khartoum “go and tell this to your government and your prophet”.

Since, the State Department recalled the US chargé d’affairs, after being accused of insulting the Prophet last week in Khartoum.
