Iran, Sudan hold 7th joint economic committee session
Dec 18, 2006 (TEHRAN) — Iran and Sudan held the 7th session of their joint political committee in the Iranian Foreign Ministry here on Friday.
The two-day session was attended by Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab-African Affairs Mohammad-Reza Baqeri and Sudanese Acting Foreign Minister Mutrif Sediq.
The two sides discussed avenues for bolstering bilateral political, economic and cultural cooperation as well as latest developments in the international arena, particularly in the Middle East and Africa.
Baqeri and Sediq also explored avenues for expanding their economic and commercial ties and mutually benefitting from each other’s technology as well as Sudan’s availing of Iran’s potentials, and stressed the importance of continuing the exchange visits between the two countries’ officials.
The two officials signed a memorandum of items discussed in the agenda at the end of their meeting.
On the sidelines of the session, the Sudanese official held talks with Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki and Minister of Agricultural Jihad Mohammad-Reza Eskandari.
The two sides also discussed promotion of Tehran-Khartoum ties and key regional and international developments in the meeting.
The meeting ended with the two sides agreeing to hold the 8th session of their joint political committee in Khartoum, the exact date of which has still to be set.
