Sudan’s al-Bashir to participate in Sana grouping summit

Feb 23, 2007 (KHARTOUM) — President Omar Hassan al-Bashir is to lead Sudan’s delegation to Sanaa Grouping Summit, scheduled to be held in the Ethiopian capital of Addis Ababa next Monday 26 February.

Foreign ministers of the states of the grouping are to hold meeting Saturday to prepare for the summit meetings.

Heads of state and government of the four countries comprising the grouping, Sudan, Ethiopia, Yemen and Somalia, are to take part in the summit conference.

The meetings are to look into a number of issues, evaluation of the performance during the previous period, implementation of agreements and resolutions issued earlier and establishment of permanent secretariat.

The summit also is to discuss conflicts in the region top of which are Somalia and Darfur besides discussing aspects of economic cooperation among the four states. It is to be noted that meetings of the experts already began last Thursday and looked into preparations and agenda of the Addis Ababa Summit.
