Eritrean president to visit Sudan

April 18, 2007 (KHARTOUM) — Eritrean President Issias Afeworki is due to arrive in Khartoum within the coming two days on a visit to Sudan, the official SUNA reported.

The visit tends to boost bilateral ties and discuss situation in Darfur and issues of mutual concern. Eritrea has sponsored talks between the government of Sudan and East Front.

It is also embarking on normalizing Sudanese-Chadian ties and encouraging the movements that did not sign Abuja peace agreement to join the peace process in Darfur.
