Rumbek Senior secondary school close for 15 days

July 7, 2007 (RUMBEK) — Most remembered secondary school in South Sudan, is Rumbek Senior secondary school which was temporally closedown yesterday by school administration due to the shortage of school feeding to students.
This afternoon H.E. Agok Manyiel Dhieu, Commissioner of Yirol West County hired the truck that carries his boys/Girls back home for the period of 15 days according to the announcement of School administration.
One truck was full with students’ kits and sleeping materials heading to Greater Yirol this evening with moral from Students over that truck.
Sudan Tribune correspondent asked the students why are they leaving school compound at afternoon hours, the reply from students was that school administration fail to bring food and that is why students are given only 15 days otherwise there must be extension if school administrations could not managed to bring food within the given period. “H/Master said”
Also there were a lot of close meeting between school administrations including head master Mr. Gabriel Malieng Marik with students, but results came that no implementations done by school administrations “source said”.
The Students from Nubia Mountains are now staying in Rumbek secondary school compound with little food given to them by school administration’ the school administration is also expecting school feeding to reach them as soon as possible.
The head master of Rumbek Senior Secondary school said that his school is holding 851 complex students boys/girls and 33 teachers. Classes in Rumbek secondary school are very few that can not accommodates a large number of students.
Within 33 teachers, some of the teachers are under accommodation of GOSS and rest of teachers including head master are putting up by their own, he said that seven (7) teachers are only under accommodations but they are foreigners teachers who where send to Lakes State Government by Government of South Sudan (GOSS). “Malieng said”
In Rumbek secondary school you can get a classroom that is composed with 90 students of which you can not get in other areas in South Sudan” it is too much for school administration to handle “Gabriel said”.
Rumbek Senior is enough encouraging their communities indeed, as well during Sudan School Certificate examinations held in Western Bhar-El-Gazal State early this year in (Wau) Rumbek become number 5 within 26 States of Northern Sudan, and also within 10 State of Southern Sudan, Rumbek Senior become number 2” it is great deal for Rumbek students to carry on the name of most remembered school in Southern Sudan.” Gabriel Malieng says”.
He concluded that Rumbek Senior Secondary school this year, had pass Sudan School Certificate examinations with 85.2% in general.
