Darfur commanders urge AU chief to respect UN Resolution 1769

Statement from the Field Commanders of the Sudan Liberation Movement/Army

August 14, 2007 — Since the outbreak of the People’s revolution of the Sudan Liberation Movement/Army, we the field commanders of the Movement have taken strong resolution and commitment with ourselves, not to allow anybody or power on earth to play with our cause, as we have a firm faith in the just cause of our people. We didn’t participate in Arusha farce because of the fruitless seventh round of talks in Abuja which ended with ‘’Abuja sell-out’’ that reflected Sudan Government’s ill-intentions to reach any viable peace agreement with Darfurians; and also because of the constant dishonoring of any agreement signed with the Government, whether it’s with the South, East or with other political forces of the Sudan, thus we lost total confidence and trust in the Government of Sudan, and accordingly to the benefit of our people and the entire stakeholders working in Dar fur the Sudan Liberation Movement/Army would like however, to clarify the following:-

Firstly:

Any political leader or field commander who became part of Arusha meetings, he was not presenting other than himself (The chosen –few peace hungry demagogues), because it was roamed in the media that mandate was given to them by the field commanders to represent us which is shear lie a crime against our people.

Secondly:

We are on the verge of arranging a field commanders meeting in consultation with our foreign offices everywhere a round the globe under the leadership of the Chairman of the Movement Abdul Wahid Mohamed Ahmed Alnour , whom we know for sure that he will not and never sell us .

Thirdly:

With profound and due respect to the AU mission in Darfur, we are appealing to Professor Alfa Omar Konari the Chairman of the AU Commission to Stand firm on his stands of supporting the UN Resolution 1769 and not to evade from it , by making his untimely statements and since the AU forces failed in protecting civilians , it is imperative for the other forces to come for the protection .

– The glory and the immortality to our revolutionary martyrs.
– The quick and swift recovery to our injured comrades.
– It is a revolution until liberation.
– Long live people’s revolution and long live Sudan Liberation Movement
