Sudan arrests killer of police general
January 13, 2022 (KHARTOUM) – Sudan’s Interior Ministry announced late Thursday the arrest of the killer of the Police Brig. Gen. Ali Praima Hammad, who was killed during the anti-coup protests.
The killer confessed to killing the police general and wounding other police officers, said the police press office in a statement posted by the official news agency SUNA.
Earlier a police officer said that Praima had been stabbed to death in a knife attack.
The Head of the Sovereign Council Abdel Fattah al-Burhan and government officials offered condolences to the family of the deceased police general.
For his part, the army spokesman Tahir Abu Haja said that attacks on the armed forces and other regular forces “target the national security and the unity of Sudan”.
The situation requires a serious assessment. There is no middle ground between Heaven and Hell. So, Freedom has no value if its fruits are death, blood and destruction,” he stressed.
The security forces recently intensified the crackdown on the anti-coup protests which now involves the regular army and their armoured vehicles.
Until now 64 protesters were killed by the security forces and hundreds were wounded.
