Ethiopia, Sudan agree to closely work in border area
January 19, 2008 (ASSOSA) — Ethiopia and Sudan agreed on Thursday to strengthen development activities and prevent illegal trade in boarder areas.
The agreement was signed at the conclusion ceremony of a three-day consultative forum organized in the Sudanese town of Demazin, the official ENA reported.
Delegation of the Benishangul Gumuz State and Blue Nile Region attended the forum.
Speaking on the occasion Chief of the Ethiopian Benishangul Gumuz State and Governor of the Sudanese Blue Nile region, Malik Agar vowed to strive for the success of development activities executed in boarder areas.
Some 150 members of delegations and officials from bordering region of both countries including Ali Abdo, Ethiopia’s Ambassador to the Sudan attended the forum.
The next forum would be held in Assosa town of Benishangul Gumuz State next March.
