Ethiopia, Sudan to construct 250-km road
January 18, 2008 (ASSOSA) – Ethiopian Ambassador to Sudan, Ali Abdo, yesterday said a 250-km asphalt road that links border towns of Ethiopia and the Sudan will be constructed soon.
Speaking at a consultative meeting of adjacent regions of the neighboring countries in Demazan town, Sudan, Ali said the two countries would cover the cost for the construction of the Assosa-Kurmuk-Demazen Road.
The consultative meeting of the executive bodies in Benishangul Gumuz State and the Blunile Region of the Sudan focuses mainly on establishment of consulate offices, promotion of trade and investment.
On December 6, Sudanese president Omer al-Bashir and Ethiopian Prime Minister, Meles Zenawi inaugurated at Doka twon the Gadarif-Doka–Gallabat-Matama highway connecting Sudan and Ethiopia.
