Sudan’s Jonglei ministers warned to work hard to maintain positions

February 14, 2008 (BOR, Jonglei) – At the eve of possible reshuffling, in the state Legislative Assembly, Governor Kuol Manyang told ministers to work extra hard to maintain position.
“I never came to reshuffle the cabinet ministers, but ensure that you are not affected,” he said. Manyang then added that; all the state ministers, commissioners of various counties and Members of the Legislative Assembly, should adapt accurate mode of work.
“To avoid this circumstance,” he said, “you need to be a better servant.” The ministers accorded his speech with a lot of applause, an indication of loyalty, thus commitment. Hard working ministers will gain higher position.
Since Kuol Manyang took over governor’s position in December 2007, from Philip Thon Leek, no minister lost position as expected of new government. Any mechanism, particularly to crap down corruption and stop insecurity, is beseeched by the state citizens. His announcement is especially welcomed.
“Changing a governor isn’t enough to bring change since one death frog spoils the whole water,” said a Bor town resident when told about the development at the Assembly. He demanded reshuffling without mentioning who to be changed.
The governor said gap between the unemployed and the employed is very wide. He attributed this trend to corruption but never specified any case of the state fund mismanagement. “Some people earn hundred times than others and this is very harmful to development,” said Mr. Manyang adding that money grape through corruptive means should be forgotten.

Your are telling same interesting history but i would like to warn you that your people must not behave moron in other states of SS by complaining about land you better teach them before tomorrow,during the war people were free to stay for their safety but now its time to be where you are.everyone must be in his own area to make development not wondering in other States with misfit behaviours of corruption,Goss should ensure that SS is enjoying peace,respect and equality as such words are the LOGIC of good a nation and de level of Government should be supported from the bottom as local government is major point of development and issues.we beleive that all our brothers and sisters who are abroad should come back home and joint hands to build our nation as we are 85% illiterat due to this long term struggled.

This is obviously a smart way of studying and observing the wrong-doers.
Kuol is not an easy guy, he knows how to tackle his job in a smart way. Removing some Ministers is not an appropriate move at this time when the Governor has just returned from Khartoum government where he had no connection with Jonglei Government or even the GOSS. The Governor is right to acquire time in order to know who are just occupying the positions and to know who are corrupt.
I know it wouldn’t be long for Kuol to find out the corrupt officials if they are available in Jonglei government at all. Jonglei in Southern Sudan will be the first State to be free from corruption in less than 100 days.
I remember when Kuol was given SPLM finance in 2002. Heap of money where collected through Kaya border and Nadapal near Loki. I hope his role as governor will be more transparent than what we know about him.
Governor, I support your idea of keeping your Ministers until you know the wrong one by yourself. The fact that you didn’t believe in what you are told about them is a very courageous move which we all need to learn from. A leader who doesn’t believes in gossip is the only God given leader. Not many are like you on this global, even in the developed world, old officials loss jobs when the new boss is appointed. And this is because of just friendship, which you don’t believed in it Mr Kuol. Good on you Koul Manayang.

Yap Mr. Kuol, we are tightly at your back, please keep in mind that, corruption, nepotism and tribalism is a great enemy in our state, go ahead and remove those who love to load their pockets with state funds without minding where they come from.
Remember also that, we are going to move your grandmother who was married wrongly by Bor decades ago, together with you back to Murle ( your uncles land)soon. because your heart is purely ours not bor’s.
