Sudanese president returns to Khartoum

May 10, 2008 (KHARTOUM) – Sudanese President Omer al-Bashir returned late today to the Sudanese capital from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia where he performed the ritual of Umrah (minor pilgrimage) and visited the Holy Mosque of the Prophet Muhammad.

Following his arrival President al-Bashir was informed at the headquarters of the Sudanese army on the security situation in the capital following the rebel Justice and Equality Movement attempt to attack Khartoum.

Omar Al-Bashir, had left Sudan to Jeddah on May 5.

Yesterday, he and his accompanying delegation were in Al-Madina where he visited the mosque of Prophet Muhammad.
