Sudanese to hold protest rally in US Dakota against E. Equatoria attacks

FOR IMMIDIATE RELEASE

Sudanese Community Rally in Sioux Falls, South Dakota

June 25, 2008 (WASHINGTON, D.C.) — On July 5th, 2008, the Sudanese Community of Eastern Equatoria State in the USA will be holding a peaceful rally in Sioux Falls, South Dakota against Governor of Eastern Equatoria State (South Sudan), Brigadier Aloysius Emor Ojetuk for having ordered armed attacks against civilians; killing of innocent lives; burning of villages; displacing of populations; confiscating of properties; illegally detaining people; routinely torturing individuals; and for his failed dictatorial policies that fuel more insecurity in Eastern Equatoria State of South Sudan.

We demand immediate stoppage of armed attacks on civilians; killing of innocent lives; burning of villages; displacing of populations; confiscating of properties; illegal detentions; tortures; and dictatorial rule by Brigadier Ojetuk.

We also demand full compensations by government of South Sudan and International Community for the victims of Brigadier Ojetuk’s dictatorial rule as well as full accountability for Brigadier Ojetuk’s actions.

While Brigadier Ojetuk is privileged enough to travel to the USA to celebrate in American style and fashion with barbecues, drinks and fireworks—the Fourth of July—an American celebration for independence—there are thousands of innocent women and children drenched under the wet rainy season of Eastern Equatoria as what were once their shelters are now burnt down by the orders of Brigadier Ojetuk. Thousands more of the displaced could not even eat a regular meal, leave alone a barbecue. As Brigadier Ojetuk is celebrating, the people under his dictatorial rule are mourning and yearning for the same independence that Brigadier Ojetuk comes to enjoy, far away from home in the USA.

We, therefore, urge all the Sudanese, American friends, and all those who value humanity, must join in solidarity with the people of Eastern Equatoria State, and participate in this rally in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. This will be an opportunity to do something worthwhile for the cause of humanity in American Independence Day. So, come all to participate, and remember the voiceless whom their voices could not be heard.

The rally will take place on 2:00PM, Saturday, July 5th, 2008 at West 13th Street and Main. More specifically on (218 W 13th St.,
Sioux Falls, SD 57104). For directions, consult http://www.mapquest.com/
