Jonglei Governor swings around peace and insecurity

By Philip Thon Aleu

August 2, 2008 (BOR TOWN) – Jonglei Governor hails counties that responded to love for peace positively and ask the stubborn ones to reframe before it is too late.

Kuol_Manyang_Juuk_10.jpgGovernor Gen. Kuol Manyang Juuk, addressing thousands of people who turn out for the State celebration of Sudan Martyrs’ Day, congratulated Pibor, Bor, Akobo, Pagak, Ayod and Twich East counties for their support to allow room for peace as Nuer Lou counties of Nyirol and Wuror comes under fire for insistence cattle raiding.

“I congratulate Murle…. for stopping cattle raiding and child abduction (because most communities accused them when a cow or a child went missing) but Nuer Lou must stop raiding (within and to the neighbors),” Gen. Manyang say.

Since Governor Kuol ascent to Jonglei highest post in December, 2007, cattle raiding and child abduction, which dominated insecurity reports, drastically decline. However, the Governor entirely attributed this success to communities’ positive responses to the State government calls for peaceful co-existence.

Pibor Members of Legislative, he says have done a great job to sensitize people. Duk and Ayod have made a significant disarmament. Much as Bor is peaceful, some cattle keepers invaded Equartoria States.

An appeal by Jonglei Governor Kuol to send army to bring them failed since they are in a different territory thus, the Government of Southern Sudan took full control of the affair that will see them return to Jonglei within this month.

Earlier, Speaker of State Legislative Assembly, Judy Boyris (Pibor MP) argued communities around Bor Town (Bor) to accept peace.

According to the Governor, each county will harvest what it sows. “I will take arms to face them,” he said referring to the volatile areas of Lou in northern part of Bor Town “but not development.”

‘THE RIGHT WAY’

In a related development, Governor Kuol called on State authorities to start working actively because “we have talk enough.” The governor, who appeared nervous, told the rally that “our martyrs will be happy when they see us working but not celebrating only.”

State Ministries of Interior and Legal Affairs came under fire for not banning children from risk businesses (motor bike hiring and minibus commendatory).

Tackling force leave for unqualified elderly officials, the governor insisted that all will go ahead as planned despite the fact that elders are brewing hatred. “I don’t care whether people love me or not! What I know is that I’m going the right way,” Governor Manyang affirmed.

He asked them to be sociologically prepared.

Firstly we don’t have a state in South called Equartoria instead of “EQUATORIA” we are not quarter, I do understand that your tongue is connected to your brains that is why you keep writing what you pronounced in your mouth instead of what you learnt from School and have in your brains. secondly we know how far those nomadic where been ignored by Goss and Kiir in particular, but I personals recommand that 1000 years nothing is going to happen like dinkas taking over any part of Greater Equatoria, just to make it easy lets believe that they are hoping to return back to their respective areas in peacefully way rather than by force because everyone knows the effects of chasing someone from your territory, therefore if Kiir is happy for about his people to keep spoiling the environment of Equatoria it’s not bad but Lord in heaven knows how to answer in his own idea, because we in Greater Equatoria 75% of us are feeding from what we dug from the ground so it is good keep if those people can leave and go back to their areas, so that we can have a piece of land obtain with food to feed with our people. War is over we are heading to peace so why do some people keep wondering in other areas researching for problems? Absolutely stupid, some people are proud of Koul so why can’t he take his people back from other areas, it is because Kiir is not serious or anything else.

No objections! peace is coming to jonglei for kuoldit by kuoldit
Another remarkable statement from the Governor of the people of jonglei state, Gen. Kuoldit is working day and night to make the Jonglei state as home for future leaders and everybody alike as the matter of facts, his statements towards peace is not politically stimulated nor he is targeting some people in the state as those behind the situations however the facts behind is that his potential is being played down by some elements in the state who are peace lover but fall to put it into work like what had happen some weeks between Duks and Lou in the state, this is not the matter of hatred but misunderstanding among brothers in the state therefore as I am concerns, I am advising Gen. Kuoldit to take another measures to have full identity of those who are not working for peace in the area and uproots them all and in totality form participating in jonglei affairs. Another things should the enforcement of the law that will governs the cattle keepers and their activities, I know our people in the area defending on their cattle very much but they should not be the cause of problems among our people.

    Long live Jonglei
    Long live Kuoldit

    Hi all:

Now Kuol have spoken the truth on the ground. Indeed since the beginning of this year, Murle have never step Bor land illegally. Murle have been raiding Bor cows as payback for Bor atrocities aganst Murle people, however, if Bor want real peace, Murle will be more than ready to implement the peace as they are normally peacelovers.

As Mr. Jodi said, Bor community need to rebuke those Bor criminals who are still trying to ignite violence between Bor and Murle to stop doing so. Murle must be given free movemnet to travel to Bortown and Juba peacefully with their goods without interruptions. And Murle than should allow Bor to trade with them freely and in good faith.

However, I know the Kuol’s speech give hard blow to those perpetrators who are working under fake covers to distablized Jongolei state. They need to know that, their doom organization will never and never get recognition in our land, they are terrorist.

    I hope all agree.

    God bless.
