Sudanese presidential aide attends Beijing Paralympics Games

September 17, 2008 (BEIJING) – Sudanese Presidential Assistant Nafi Ali Nafi attended the closing ceremony of Beijing Paralympics which was to end on Wednesday evening.

Beijing opened the Paralympics Games on Saturday September 6.

The Paralympics Games are a multi-sport event for athletes with physical, mental, and sensorial disabilities. This includes athletes with mobility disabilities, amputations, blindness, and cerebral palsy. They are held every four years following the Olympic Games.

Nafi who is also the deputy chairmen of the National Congress Party held a meeting with Zhou Yongkang, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Chinese Communist Party on Wednesday.

Zhou appreciated the support the Sudanese government and people offered to the Beijing Olympics and Paralympics.

In response, Nafi congratulated China on great successes of both the Olympics and Paralympics.

During talks in the Great Hall of the People in downtown Beijing, Zhou and Nafi also agreed to upgrade cooperation between their parties.

Nafi was the highest-ranking Sudanese official to attend the closing ceremony of the Paralympics. There was no any high ranking Sudanese official to attend the opening or the closing ceremony of the Olympic Games.

Only the minister of sport Mohamed Yousif was in the Chinese capital to support the Sudanese team after the opening ceremony.
