July 23, 2024 (JUBA)- The South Sudanese President Salva Kiir on Monday sacked his chief office admninistrar, Yel Luol Kur, replacing him with Daniel Madit Malek.

Kiir, in a decree announced on the state-owned television (SSBC), gave no reason for the removal of Kur who had held the position since December 2023.

A former Executive Director in the office of the president, Kur was one of the senior officials accused of forgery and stealing money. He was convicted but pardoned.

Meanwhile the new chief administrator in Kiir’s office is a political adversary of the Director General of National Security Services head, General Akol Koor Kuc.

He is, however, one of the strongest allies of the Deputy Director General at the external bureau of the national service, General Gregory Vasilli, an in-law to Kiir.

Analysts have interpreted the latest appointments as an attempt by Kiir to surround himself with people only friendlier to the first family, but with no power ambition.
