December 6, 2024 (CAIRO) – The Egyptian government plans to hold a second meeting of Sudanese political forces in Cairo to discuss ways to end the ongoing war in Sudan, which began on April 15, 2023.

Cairo hosted a conference of Sudanese political and civil forces in July under the slogan “Together to Stop the War,” which aimed to present visions for ending the conflict.

Participants included political forces loyal to the Sudanese army, such as the Democratic Bloc and the National Accord Alliance, as well as the “Tagadum” coalition of civilian democratic forces, which advocates for stopping the war.

Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty said in statements reported by Al-Qahera News TV that “we intend to host the second edition of the meeting of Sudanese political and civil forces with the participation of all parties.”

Abdelatty stressed that his country is ready to do anything to help restore stability to Sudan, stop the war and save the blood of the Sudanese people.

“We affirm that ownership belongs to Sudan, and we completely reject any external interference or dictates because the solution must be Sudanese,” he said. “What the Sudanese agree on is something that naturally pleases us and receives all support from Egypt towards its sister Sudan and its brothers inside Sudan.”

On December 3, the Egyptian top diplomat visited Sudan for the first time since the outbreak of the war between the army and the Rapid Support Forces. There, he held talks with Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, Chairman of the Sovereign Council and army commander.
