Sudanese govt suspends activities of Turabi’s party
KHARTOUM, April 1 (AFP) — Sudanese authorities on Thursday suspended the activities of arrested Islamist leader Hassan al-Turabi’s Popular Congress (PC), a party official told AFP.
Turabi’s deputy Abdallah Hassan Ahmad said he had been informed of the decision after Turabi was charged with damaging the country’s security and his party’s offices were closed.
“This suspension will be effective until the courts examine the case of leadership of this party,” he said.
