RSF drones attack aid convoys in North Kordofan

January 6 2026 (UM RAWABA) – Sudan’s Rapid Support Forces (RSF) used drones to attack humanitarian aid convoys and fuel trucks at three locations in North Kordofan state on Friday, according to officials and medical groups.

The North Kordofan state government condemned the attacks on a truck convoy belonging to the World Food Programme (WFP). It called on the international community and United Nations bodies to take a firm stand and impose sanctions on the RSF leadership.

The drone strikes occurred along the road connecting the state capital, El Obeid, with Kosti in White Nile state, killing one person and wounding several civilians. Military sources said the drones targeted food trucks on the route between Er Rahad and Um Rawaba.

An initial strike at dawn targeted three trucks in Er Rahad. This was followed by an attack in the Allah Kareem area near the town of Es Samih that hit four vehicles, including some carrying UN relief supplies.

In Um Rawaba, three drones struck a transport truck and a fuel tanker, causing further civilian casualties. The WFP has not issued an official statement regarding the incident.

The Sudan Doctors Network said the RSF targeted the relief convoy while it was transporting aid to displaced people in El Obeid. The network described the attack as a “blatant violation of international humanitarian law” and a war crime.

The medical group held the RSF responsible and urged the international community to take urgent action to protect humanitarian workers and ensure there is no impunity. It called for an independent investigation into the deliberate targeting of civilians and humanitarian infrastructure.
