Sudan cabinet orders maximum alert over RSF drone strikes
November 1, 2026 (KHARTOUM) – Sudan’s cabinet on Sunday ordered a maximum state of alert and directed security forces to monitor all conspiracies against the country, threatening maximum penalties for anyone proven to have provided the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) with coordinates for recent drone strikes.
For a continuous week, energy and electricity facilities have faced RSF drone attacks, destroying approximately 14 power stations across Gedaref, Sennar, Al Jazirah, White Nile, Khartoum, South Kordofan, Northern State and River Nile State.
The strikes have caused widespread power outages, affecting hospitals, water stations and bakeries.
Sudanese authorities have accused Ethiopia of facilitating the launch of drones from its territory.
Following a cabinet meeting, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Culture and Information Graham Abdelqadir told reporters the government stressed the need to raise the state of alert at both official and popular levels.
Abdelqadir said the cabinet condemned the repeated attacks on service facilities using drones launched from inside Ethiopia, describing the acts as crimes against humanity.
He stated the targeting of civilian infrastructure reflects the continuous defeats suffered by the RSF.
The cabinet directed the coordination of domestic and international media campaigns to criminalize the repeated attacks by the RSF and its allies, he added.
Abdelqadir also noted that the cabinet praised technicians, engineers, and electricity sector workers for their ongoing efforts to maintain and rehabilitate the targeted stations under exceptional circumstances.
The cabinet further ordered enhanced protection for facilities, power stations and their workers at both federal and state levels.
