RSF attacks Ed Damazin with swarm of explosive drones
November 4, 2026 (ED DAMAZIN) – The Rapid Support Forces (RSF) launched a heavy drone assault on Ed Damazin, the capital of Sudan’s Blue Nile region, in an attack spanning from Tuesday night into Wednesday morning.
The strikes targeted military installations and civilian properties, according to military sources speaking to the Sudan Tribune.
Local government authorities in the Blue Nile region have not yet disclosed the specific locations the drones hit.
The bombardment marks the second consecutive day of drone attacks on Ed Damazin.
It comes hours after the Sudanese army announced a redeployment from the strategic Sali area south of the city following clashes with the RSF.
Witnesses told the Sudan Tribune they heard army anti-aircraft defences engaging the drones.
They also reported several loud explosions across Ed Damazin between 10:24 p.m. on Tuesday and 3:35 a.m. on Wednesday.
Military sources said army defences intercepted successive waves of the RSF drone swarm targeting the regional capital.
A power outage in the city coincided with the attacks. Authorities routinely cut electricity during drone flights as a security precaution.
Both the Sudanese army and the RSF have increasingly relied on explosive and reconnaissance drones as the conflict persists.
Fighting in the southeastern Blue Nile region has been active since January. The Sudanese army and its allies are battling an alliance of the RSF and the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement-North (SPLM-N).
