November 4, 2026 (KALMA, North Darfur) – Humanitarian and health conditions are severely deteriorating in displacement camps across Sudan’s Darfur region and other areas, the General Coordination of Displaced Persons and Refugees said on Wednesday.

The crisis is driven by an acute shortage of medical services and declining humanitarian aid deliveries due to the ongoing war.

Displaced people face mounting challenges in accessing healthcare, medicine and food, raising fears of disease outbreaks among vulnerable groups, including children and the elderly.

Coordination spokesperson Adam Regal told the Sudan Tribune that 45 cases of viral hepatitis have been recorded in South Darfur’s Kalma camp.

The camp receives between two and three new cases daily as access to basic health services continues to decline.

Regal said the health crisis extends to other Darfur displacement camps, including Tawila, El Fasher, Kassab and Fata Borno.

It also impacts displacement areas in the Kordofan and Blue Nile regions, along with other war-affected zones in Sudan.

Regal called for expanded early detection and disease prevention programs.

He urged the United Nations and humanitarian organizations to intervene immediately by providing food, therapeutic supplements and medical support to save lives.
