September 17, 2009 (BOR) – Speaker of Jonglei state legislative assembly announced his resignation on Thursday before the August House.
Reasons behind the former speaker’s resignation are not yet known. When contacted after the Thursday session today, Mr. Boyoris told the Sudan Tribune through his office manager that he was still working on the final details of his statement. Contacted MPs also refused to comment. The SPLM caucus was not attended by the press either.
Elected by state Members of Parliament (MPs) in 2005 – months after the formation of the government of Government of Southern Sudan (GoSS), Mr. Boyoris (SPLM Pibor MP) will be remembered as the first speaker of Jonglei state. A brave man when he speaks to the media, Boyoris accused states executives of mismanaging public funds. In 2008, two ministers were ousted by the assembly on controversial payment of staff salaries.
Despite the tremendous support he has in the state parliament, MPs criticize his management and particularly the long stand-off of the assembly to open this year. When asked during a press conference last April to explain his position on this issues, Boyoris said:
“The delay to open the Assembly is [due to] the two ministers voted out. This is a problem….[because] we don’t need to open the Assembly while…the ministers are still occupying their seats,” adding “so we think that they should be removed out first and then we will open the Assembly.”
MPs at the time expressed disagreement that the two ministers’ dismissal was final — making the decision to close the assembly citing their reluctance to resign less vital.
The state assembly will now work on electing a new speaker after lobbying in the next few days.

I do not understand this report. Are we talking here about the vote of no confidence or what? If there was a vote of no confidence against the speaker, then why should we say that we do not know the reason for his resignation?
Anyway, we are moving slowly toward democracy. So we should expect officials to resign when they can’t stand up to the task. The time of serious business is coming when those holding public offices will be accountable to the people of South Sudan.

Why don’t you let the wise Murle to rule and improve the worse situation in your state? you keep doing this and that but nothing has been changed. I have the same question like what Mr. Kur just raised, did Mr. speaker resign because of pressure or he resigned for his own family issues?
But that is not important thing at the moment since politicians resign every where including the one from from Obama administration who resigned last week as we all heard on radios or watch on TVs.
But, but, but the main point is that, Murle want to see whether his position will be awarded to somebody from another county or not because this position is soley belong to Pibor coounty just as the position of honorable Kual Manyang in the GONU where after his transference to the position of governor, because the position was known to be for the Bor commmunity Mr. Thon Leek has to replaced it without negotiation, I think this will take the same suit.
I believe in Kual Manyang that, he will not attempt to give that position to another county as that will bring more and worst chaos between Bor and Murle than predicted.
However, I hope Murle will not see this as political breach to their community’s right, since I am sure another Murle will take that position.

Please you people need to choose the language thst suit your complete interest. If you want us to use qualification let us go for it and if the issue of tribalism or equal representation matters than let utilize it.
because I am deadly confuse about what you people what, if we think that most of you prefer qualification I think people like Nyandeng were not suppose to be even near to the government office since she didn’ attent even grade one (1)
And if we want to abolish representation based on tribes than people like Philip Thon was not suppose to take over Kuol Manyang’s position. All this need you to work on and choose want fit your commonal interest because running from here to there will cause big disaster to you as whole.
Yes this position must go to Murle or see what will happen.
Remember also that your smartness was expired years ago.

Resignation of the speaker has no any effect to citizens of Jonglei state.We have really appreciated his wise decision.Murles have been killing innocent people and Jodi did not say anything.His resignation will definitely result to peace in Jonglei state if not war.
Citizens always blame me when I response to Logic dog s’ comments against Dinkas.Please constant dripping of water makes a hole on the stone.Logic must stop talking against Dinkas otherwise.

I think the resignition of Mr. speaker is the wise decision simply because leaders come and go if they feel like they are not satisfying the interest of public.
I however want to asure you guys that it shouldn’t be taken as an advantage especially those whom their mind is already infested by tribelism more especially Logic Boy and his colleagues and i want to let you know you that dinakas are no where to be taken if even if you can shed blood.
The idealogy of abusing tribes for single mistake done by one person will get you no benefits at all and it will lead you no were otherwise dinka tribe is not an enemy to any other tribe in the south. I suggest for you guys to join jalaaba and you will still face the tirable consequence as we can deal with you accordingly. what a Shameless and coward idiot.

i’m really happy with the victory of Hon. Peter Chol Wal Lat. we people of Jonglei we need a person who can work for the betterment of people of this state, not for his/her family as it used to be .
mr. Chol doesnot support corruption so corruptees leaders shall orient themselves Mr. chol Wal will improve insecurity in the state, he will not support discrimination/tribal clashes as it used to be .
insecurity was problem in the state because the former speaker his people are the problem to the state , they are cattle raiders and children abductors in the same time their leaders are corruptees and trouble makers.
this time around all Mps will visit their counties instead of sitting and waiting for their money in the parliment , they shall represent people of their various counties instead of representing themselves as they used to be under the shield of Hon Jodi. They will really represent people not themselves .
finally, new elected leader is a peace maker man he will struggle to bring peace to the counties which are in conflicts with each other. so if the government of the state give him a chance to utilize his knowledge he will bring peace and estability to the state .

Helo to my fellow southerners…as a southern Sudanese your purpose as an individual is to contribute in making history, establishing southern Sudan as an independent state and to be able to reach that goal unity is crucial. so please I ask that we give up our tribal different and to work as a family, team, a nation and therefore should the southern Sudan rise and one day become one of the greatest nation in the African continent…as far as the article is concern, it only confirms the resignation of the speaker but no the reasons behind his resignation hence we should not tried to make up reasons to why he resigned. no one knows the real reason and please let try to be positive about it….who know that he might want to help his state differently beside been a politics and thus we should support his decision regardless as an individual….furthermore please no nations are built upon racial divisions….seriously for all of us who are overseas and so far see themselves as educated or intellectuals…seriously sit down and ask yourself what the purpose of education….life and consequently you should be able to determine what future you want for your kids in southern Sudan….its actions of today that determines the outcome of tomorrow so please tribal conflicts and divisions isn’t a solution so its up to you to choose the future of our loved southern Sudan…Donald trump an American entrepreneur says that in life there are those who takes actions and those who let opportunities go pass so which one do you want to be?….the key to success in southern Sudan is all in you hands so you pick.
