Northern Bahr el Ghazal embarks on public voter registration campaign

November 7, 2009 (MALAKAL) — After a weeklong reluctance to support voter registration exercise in the area, state authorities today said embarked on public voter registration campaign urging community leaders to exert efforts and avail all local resources for successful conduct of the exercise.
Baak Lual, the official spokesperson and minister of information and communications of Northern Bahr el Ghazal state, said his government is fully committed to the successful conduct of the exercise.
“I called on our people particularly the youth groups to immediately engage in nothing than helping voter registration teams out in the centers to enlighten local communities in raising awareness and in explanation of why it is necessary to be registered for vote in the upcoming national election comes April 2010,” he said.
On Thursday 5, the state election commission chairperson Mr. Mawien Kuch, said his office has almost nothing to start the operation.
Vehicles to be used in distributing teams to registration centers are nowhere available to start operation; he said adding influential groups are paying less attention to the exercise too. “It is a difficult task to shoulder,” he comments.
Kuch also said even if the commission managed to get transport for some team members; still the issue of how to access water zones which are only accessible by local boats.
He further voiced concern on the issue of compensation for staffers that will be deployed out of their home villages to conduct registration operations in other communities.
Albino Garang a member of commission also blamed authorities for showing no interest in helping commission to enlighten local communities.
“I have never seen any political figure coming out publicly to emphasize on elections,” he adds stressing the work has been left to the commission and members of civil society organizations.

Logic is back fresh and far from tribalism.
This registration will not be sucessful in any part of South Sudan, because the government by itself has fail to support the process in terms of financal area. Instead of renting vehicles to transport employees, buying foods for workers, arranging other persuasive people to spread the word of registration to rural area but GOSS fail to comply in such areas, here in Juba every body is busy, trading is busy, drinking is busy, streets kids are busy looking for leftover and everyone is busy on their business. It is good you spent the money on such areas rather sending abroad for your children to consume, get to know that this money you are consmuning are part of our lost lives and bloodshed, by eating them to your individual stomach will cause you to recall the the day you where born. South Sudan is ruled by vision of government, but lacking the presents of government.
My warning to this individual criminal who call himself Greater Equatorian, please dinkas boy stop changing yourself, why did you create this id of greater equatorian to confused with people on this fora, what is your point of asking me to be in touch with you through email? i don’t think your little iq will convince me to share any common idea with arrogant who thinks he is smart to trick other people. Your non Equatorian, because i realised that your outsider from jungle state, please stay away otherwise your pushing me back to resume my previous atittude toward the wild community. I advice all of you dinkas to stop dressing Equatorian id on yourselves, it is ashame that some people desire to be Equatorians.
