Chinese envoy arrives in Khartoum for talks with Sudanese officials
February 28, 2010 (KHARTOUM) – Ambassador Liu Guijin, Chinese special envoy to Sudan, arrived today in the Sudanese capital for talks on Darfur and implementation of the Comprehensive Peace Agreement (CPA).
Liu was in the Rwandan capital Kigali where he participated in a special meeting on Darfur peace and security organized by the head of the hybrid peacekeeping mission, Ibrahim Gambari during the week end.
The Chinese envoy is expected to meet on Monday with the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mutrif Siddiq, and the Presidential Advisor Ghazi Salah Al-Deen who is in charge of Darfur file as well as other officials.
Last January Chinese Ambassador to Sudan during a meeting with the National Election Commission discussed the participation of a Chinese delegation in the monitoring of the coming elections in Sudan.
China extended a three US dollar grant to support the organization of general election in Sudan in April this year.
Director of the Asian Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Ambassador Fadul Abdallah Fadul, who received him at Khartoum airport, said the Chinese envoy would visit Juba on Tuesday to meet with the First Vice President and President of the Government of South Sudan and will return to Khartoum on Wednesday.

China is a country which has many internal problems especially those in regard to human rights abuse. Chinese are good at milking a country`s resources with no return. China has to remain focus and involve here in Sudan, the Chinese know very well that they have the biggest stake here economically in Sudan, so they need to stay engaged with all Sides and make sure the CPA peace is implemented without further violations, they also need to push more for a parmanent peace in Darfur, if China loose its focus it will most like loose its lucrative oil too after 2011, so Chinese are our good partners let them stay engaged and continue with the development projects of construction and technical support.
