Sheikh said the participants would be given skills to enhance the efficiency of their work. They will also receive training on how to improve their personal safety through training on how to handle threatening situations.

Participants shall also be trained on both digital and internet security issues.

The organization works to strengthen the human rights defenders in the region by enhancing their capacity and reducing their vulnerability to risk of persecution.

Sheik said the project envisions a region in which the human rights of every citizen as stipulated in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights are identifed and upheld.

The East and Horn of Africa Human Rights Defenders Project implements activities in the areas of protection, advocacy and capacity building to protection and defend human rights workers and raise public awareness of human rights issues in the region.
