Leadership Institute of New Sudan (LIONS) Officially Opens Its First Leadership Workshop in South Sudan

Juba, South Sudan – November 14, 2010,

Addressing the participants at the opening of the LIONS leadership Workshop at the Royal Garden hotel in Juba, Dr. Ann Itto urged the participants to strip and put in their pockets all the knowledge from the leadership faculty and leave nothing with them to take back to America. Conducting its first leadership training in South Sudan, LIONS is poised to test its vision and motto of developing “strong leadership for a better nation.”

With the birth of a new nation on the horizon, the Leadership Institute of New Sudan (LIONS) realizes the urgent need to train and develop leaders. Because the success of any nation depends on the development of its human capital in general and leaders in particular, LIONS is involved either directly or indirectly in an effort to build capacity and realize these objectives.

The founder of LIONS, Mangar Gordon Amerdid believed that strong nation is a result of a strong leadership and LIONS strive to achieve this by aggressively training and developing young leaders in the soon-to-be republic of South Sudan and the other marginalized areas. LIONS had successfully conducted its first leadership workshop in Denver, Colorado, USA in 2009 as the start to achieve its leadership capacity building mission. LIONS collaborated with other organizations and will continue to do so in order to achieve total development of human capacity. This collaboration will make it possible to develop well rounded current and future leaders. The training, attended by approximately thirty (30) participants, will continue for the next five days and concludes on Saturday. A media briefing will take place every evening for the next five days after each session.
