Jonglei: SPLA clash with rebel group in Duk Padiet

By John Actually

March 18, 2011 (BOR) – Fighting broke out Wednesday evening between South Sudan’s army (SPLA) and forces loyal to renegade George Athor Deng under the command of David Yauyau at Ayen Kou and Ayuel villages of Duk Padiet payam [distrcit] of Duk county in northern Jonglei forcing civilians to flee the area.

Abiel Chan Anyang, who is the MP for Duk county at Jonglei Legislative Assembly (JLA) said the SPLA had repelled the attack.

According to Anyang, the militias left the area in two groups after the clash and went in different directions. One group was seen again behind Poktap air strip at 2:00am on Thursday morning at a water point a few kilometers away from the village but managed to make their way out.

The local MP said that people in the area did not attempt to attack the militia as the group was too large. The other group fled through Pabiorhol and was now heading to Pibor county across Gadiang Desert, Anyang said

Anyang told Sudan Tribune that he does not know how many people were killed or injured in the fighting. He said that would travel to the area with the MP for Duk County, Philip Thon Leek, who is a former governor of Jonglei state.

Athor Deng defected from the goverment of South Sudan last year after April’s general elections, accusing the government of rigging the results in favor of the incumbent governor Kuol Manyang Juuk who became the incumbent governor.

Juuk was not availbale for comment on the recent clashes.

On Friday Reuters reported that at least 59 soldiers and rebels were killed on Thursday in clashes between the SPLA and local militia in Unity and Upper Nile according to a military spokesperson.

Kiir should find all ways to end this Athor’s Rebellion peacefully

Yes SPLA can protect civilians but don’t seeks to extinguish fire! with fire!.

Solving this conflict by military confrontation will give us a LRA situation in Uganda which we don’t want at all.

Again, you will not be able to finish this rebellion overnight by force as some of our top ever drunken officers think. Generals, it will take years, lots of years without progress in South Sudan if you seek military solution with Athor.

Yes, Garang kept kept him close, but why? Because he (Athor) is revered fearless guerrilla fighter with adept military ferocity. With a battalion, he can destabilized the whole south.

Athor as a single man has nothing to loose, since most of his supporters/forces are not even Dinka. It is South Sudan that will be stuck without any progress because of insecurity and the destruction he will cause. What happened in Fangak was just the beginning. Athor’s rebellion will be funded by enemies of S. Sudan and this will prolonged the war in the south. The rebellion may even grow stronger and bigger since anybody dissatisfy with GoSS can join it any time.

Even though Bashir was powerful, he wasn’t able to defeat SPLA just because he had MIGs and Antonovs. Same thing is true in Darfur, there will never be a military solution there, only a peaceful negotiation will bring peace. So don’t be deceived by the helicopters and gunships just bought recently by SPLA. They won’t bring us peace.

Generals, think twice before you all agree to issue orders. You may win the battle, but you will definitely loose the war!, the war of security and development in the South which is our ultimate goal.
An hour of negotiation can spare a country 10 years of war.
peace = big money +big positions.

For those who are still using Ngundeng ideologically, please be inform! Ngundeng had shameful things to be said about him. First,

He was not a Prophet but a profit to his royalist in Nuer.
He had many names according to his activities in many parts of South Sudan.
He was a Cannibal animal according to Nuer man who doesn’t need to be mentioned
His first name was Ngundeng-meaning that he was send by God.
After he gone wild and ran away.
His name changed to be Gatluakmanguel in Nuer dialect.
He ate many Nuer men and women in Nuer Land
Dinka. His name was Manyang e Juet.
He ate many children, animal claviers and cows’s bulls in Dinka Land.
Equatoria with different languages including English and Arabic
    His name was Tiger

The Nuer man who refused to be target by Ngundeng’s salves pointed out that. Ngundeng had no father or mother but the Devil who came out in the River Nile in a form of fish, when the Nuer boys want for fishing. They fish for so many hours and they caught nothing, when the boys get tied and ready to go back home. One of them told other guys that there was a fish ate his hook lastly, the boy convinced other friends to tried one more time! Shortly after he putted on snail body on the hook, he had thrown it into Nile River. Immediately, Ngundeng was caught. The boy was attempting to pull the Fish Ngundeng out in the river but it was difficult for him to do so, then he called his associates to pull Ngundeng on the shore. They brought it out and they were smile some of them were told to go and collect firewood in order for the young men to roast their fish.

Unfortunately! The Fish Ngundeng changed into big snake! And the boys ran away from it, the boys thought that they were dreaming and they came back for the second times. The Snake Ngundeng light it body and become bright as well as electricity light. They ran home and they spread the news to the community, when the Nuer elders came to the place where Ngundeng was pulled. It was still there as snake with it light. People gather together around it and started asking question how did this happen? The Snake Ngundeng changed into human being and told people not to run away. All of them were shocking and scary to death except Human Ngundeng who perform such witchcraft. things “Come down, come down now!” The Human Ngundeng said. Who are you? The Nuer elders asked him. I am Nyajok_ which mean woman devil! The Human Ngundeng answer! She knew her own physical appearance as she is a hermaphrodite. (A person with both the organs of a man and a woman) Wow! Brothers and sisters of Nuer I am sorry for your Profit. Nyajok Ngundeng was not a Prohet? It was your profit to cheat people for his power but It was not a Prophet? It was a Satan?
