Sudan accuses Uganda of sabotaging Darfur peace process

April 10, 2011 (KHARTOUM) – The head of Sudan’s delegation to Darfur peace talks Amin Hassan Omer accused neighboring Uganda of working to undermine negotiations with rebel movements that are currently underway in the Arab Gulf state of Qatar.

Omer said that Kampala is hosting members of Darfur rebel groups particularly the Justice and Equality Movement (JEM) to coordinate on next steps. He added that JEM is meeting in Uganda with other political powers to get support for its fighters on the ground.

JEM and the Liberation and Justice Movement (LJM) are the two groups negotiating with Khartoum though the former has suspended participation in protest against the presidential decree to hold a referendum on Darfur administrative status.

The Sudanese official said that Uganda does not hide its hostility towards his country.

Relations between the two countries have soured for some time over Uganda’s support for South Sudan’s secession and its warning to president Omer Hassan Al-Bashir not to visit because of its obligation to execute the arrest warrant against him issued by the International Criminal Court (ICC).

Recently, Uganda claimed that Sudan has refused to grant visas to its police officers serving as part of the peacekeeping mission in Darfur.

People what is wrong with this regime in Khartoum? Whenever they feel pressure they start pointing an accusation finger at their neighbors(South Sudan,Egypt,Libya,Uganda,
Eritrea…), now that everyone even the America opposed the presidential decree on Darfur referendum they started blaming others for their evil plans.

People this Northern neighbor of ours is going to cause us a lot of trouble shall we build a fence between us, I hate such type of neighbor. But let me tell you there is no way that they will attack Kampala, now Uganda is soon going to produce their oil, they will buy more war planes, tanks and get well equipped to deter any treat from such hostile regime in Khartoum.

Goodness these JEM fighters are everywhere- says Khartoum. government. Last we heard they were all being paid to fight for Gaddaffi in Lubya. Now that seems to be not true as they are actually in Uganda.
When will the Khartoum government stop blaming every other country and start looking at themselves. The citizens are not stupid.. we know the real truth..
