JEM splinters say ready for peace deal with Khartoum

September 28, 2011 (KHARTOUM) — A breakaway group from the rebel Justice and Equality Movement (JEM) today announced its commitment to the Doha process and said keen to conclude a peace agreement with Khartoum.

JEM two days ago announced the removal of its deputy chairman and head of Kordofan sector Mohamed Bahr Ali Hamdein and accused him of preparing to sign a peace deal with Khartoum despite the movement’s refusal to endorse the Doha Darfur Peace Document.

Mohamed Bahr made public his intention to join the Doha peace deal as expected on 28 September from Doha where he held a press conference and announced the establishment of a new structure called Democratic Change Forces.

The splinter rebel also slammed the leadership of Khalil Ibrahim for JEM and accused his former leader of dictatorial practices and tribalism.

The rebel group refused to sign the DDPD, a framework peace agreement mainly negotiated by the Sudanese government and the Liberation and Equality Movement (LJM) in Doha and demanded to open it for direct talks.

Khartoum proposes only to absorb the rebel fighters and to allocate ministerial and legislative posts to the rebels once they ink the DDPD, but refuses any further talks.

The US envoy for Sudan, Princeton Lyman will gather government and rebel groups in Washington to expose their positions and to seek ways to bridge their differences. The meeting will be attended by the regional and international partners and the mediation.

This man called Hamdin is but a security element who was skillfully inserted into the leading body of JEM.He was highly successfull in infilterating that movement. this is not the first play of its kind, the group of Adam Ali Shougar has made a similar peace ” play “. These are people who are extremely poor in ethics, principles, and conscience
