November 7, 2011 (LONDON) – The international advocacy organisation, Amnesty International (AI) released a statement on 7 November calling for the release of two South Sudanese journalists.
In Juba also civil society groups continue to react to Ngor illegal arrest. The South Sudanese, Community Empowerment for Progress Organisation also released a statement condemning the detention.
Monday’s calls bolster similar statements from Human Rights Watch and the Committee to Protect Journalists.
The detained journalists are Ngor Garang the Sudan Tribune journalist and editor of The Destiny; and Dengdit Ayok also of The Destiny.
Amnesty “calls for Ngor Garang and Dengdit Ayok to be immediately and unconditionally released,” said a statement put out on Monday, The international rights group urged the authorities in Juba “to reveal” their whereabouts and “grant them immediate access to their families, lawyers, and any medical treatment they may require.”
Pressed by journalists on Friday, Barnaba Marial Benjamin,
the information and broadcasting minister said he was unaware of
Ngor’s detention. He however added that if it was indeed true, then it was
against press and media freedom in South Sudan.
The minister did not elaborate much, but promised to follow up the matter with the relevant security authorities.
Amnesty also lists relevant member of the Government of South Sudan which concerned people can write to “Call on the authorities to adhere to legal proceedings of detention and allow for freedom of expression, in accordance to Article 19(4) and Article 24(2) of the Republic of South Sudan’s 2011 Transitional Constitution and international human rights standards.”
The Destiny published an article denouncing the marriage of the daughter of the president of South Sudan, Salva Kiir to an Ethiopian man. After the publication of Ayok’s article a public apology was written and he was suspended from work.
The current location of the prisoners remains a matter of speculation, as does their charge.

They should either call themselves South Sudan Tribune or South and North Sudan Tribunes, as the world changes they should also change with the world. The name Sudan Tribune makes them the enemies of South Sudan. All Christians should stop naming their children Ali, Ahmed etc be African and truly African.

Just release him….Okay, if you are not going to release him, then how do you want to call his crime in the court of law?…We all bow to protect our president and the reason why we do that is by making ourselves feel closer to him.If we we didn’t care at all, then we wouldn’t say anything..This was first marriage of the first daughter, so everybody had no experience, next time would better.

Amnesty international is a biased organisation whose reputation has been seriously tainted by its partiality in the Libyan war in which NATO terrorist organisation and pro-NTC militias abused the human rights of Libya army, colonel Gadhafi loyalists and African migrant workers who were advertised as Mercenaries. To date, more than 3,000 innocent black Africans are still being detained…….

The journalist should be set free. Dear President, I always see you at St. Thereza,s Cathedral Kator for prayer and so I expect you to have a loving and forgiving heart. As a leader you will face alot of challenges but it doesn’t mean every challenger must face justice. Let peope express out their burning issues, give your people freedom to chart with you and even criticise you but take it easy.

I have never wanted to comment about Kiir’s daughter getting marriege to Ethiopian. But why should Kiir care about other peoples’ opinion? That’s what those people think and it’s an opinion. There is no need for any boddy talking shit about mariege to be arrested since that would reveal banning of free speech. Let the Ethiopian take that girl becuase they like each other.

Brother, I used to have a lot of respect for the amnesty international and western media or press before the Libyan conflict that I used watch on TV on daily basis, especially when NATO and NTC terrorist organisations were bombarding everything moving in sirte and Bani walid, when those Libyan cities were under siege for weeks, when patients were dying in their hospital..

beds because of the lack of medicines, oxygen, water, electricity, food etc. those innocent civilians were penalised because of their loyalty to colonel Gadhafi, while western human right organisations turned blind eyes on the civilians casualties caused by NATO and NTC bombardments and inhumane killing and mistreatment of war prisoners, King Gadhafi loyalists and innocent black African migrant.

….workers accused of being mercenaries. Recently, a lot of human right abuses of detainees in Libyan jails have been reported by Reuters where drunkard prison guards torture those Africans and Gadhafi loyalists in various ways. Up to date, no single western human right organisations has been moved by those abuses, instead they deny those human rights abuses by their favoured NTC terrorist…….

….group and blame every massacre, torture and rape to what they call pro-Gadhafi fighters using their propaganda tools such as CNN, BBC NEWS, SKY NEWS and their AL Jazeera puppet TV. All this is because the bombardment was done by NATO. They are double standard thus the third world governments shouldn’t take them seriously.

Mr. SSLA Supporter,
You are absolutely right, our President Kiir has mistaken for giving his daughter Adut Kiir to an Ethiopian man for the sake of wealth.
Shame on President Kiir for letting the stranger breaking into his house and snatch the first Girl Adut without the knowledge of the Sons of the beloving Land. Shame on you Mr. President, you need to appologize to the entire nation for that
