Technical delegation of African ministerial committee begins visit to Sudan

KHARTOUM, June 23, 2004 (SUNA) — A technical delegation of the African Ministerial Committee arrived here on Tuesday to follow up the efforts to rehabilitate south Sudan during the post-war period.

The Committee was set up upon the request of Sudan at the African summit in Mozambique in July 2003.

The Director of the African Union Administration at the Foreign Ministry, Abdul-Wahab Al-Sawi, told SUNA that the committee is chaired by South Africa and established to follow up the African Union’s contribution to the rehabilitation issues in the south.

The delegation would meet during the visit with a number of government officials, besides a field visit to southern states.

The commission, which is chaired by South Africa, comprises Egypt, Nigeria, Algeria, Ethiopia, Kenya, Senegal, Gabon and Sudan.
