Russian company to build oil pipeline in Sudan

MOSCOW, July 29, 2004 (RIA Novosti) — Russian company Stroitransgaz will take part in the construction of oil pipeline in Sudan.

The Stroitransgaz, in consortium with its subsidiary engineering company STG-International GmbH, has won the tender for construction of the 366-kilometre-long section of the oil pipeline Melut Basin Oil Development Project, press release of the Stroitransgaz says.

The client of the pipeline construction is Petrodar Operating Co., one of the leading Sudanese oil companies.

New oil pipeline will link the Melut Basin deposit in the area of the town of Poluji with the port of Sudan and further to the Red Sea. The daily pipeline capacity will be 200 barrels of oil.

The contract has been concluded for a term of 12 months on “engineering, procurement and construction conditions.” The Stroitransgaz plans to start welding and assembly work at the beginning of September, this year.

Presently, the company’s specialists are recruiting personnel and are engaged in shipping building machinery and equipment.

The Stroitransgaz is an oil and gas construction company which can annually build more than 3,000 kilometres of large-size pipelines and reconstruct about ten gas pumping stations.
