New S. Sudan airline launches Juba-Wau service
August 3, 2014 (WAU) – South Sudan’s new airline company, Golden Wings Aviation, has launched daily flights between Juba and Wau.
The company will operate two cargo planes and one passenger jet on the route.
Ticket prices will start from 600 South Sudanese pounds, about US$150.
Olau said the airline also plans to offer direct flights from Wau to Entebbe in Uganda.
Speaking during the official launch of the new airline service to Wau, Western Bahr el Ghazal state governor Rizik Zackaria Hassan described the event as an important step in the campaign to relocate the nation’s capital from Juba to Wau.
He said it’s hoped the new airline service will stimulate economic growth in the region and provide momentum for Wau’s bid to become the new national capital.
The launch was attended by national legislative assembly speaker Manase Magok, as well as the speaker of the council of states, Bol Chan, and the national minister for humanitarian affairs, Lual Achuil.
The new airline is operated by SKA South Africa.
