Sudan Media Center (SMC), a website closely linked to NISS, said that RSF carried out extensive combing operations in West Kordofan state, pointing tha they managed to destroy a camp belonging to a rebel group at Ab Kadma in al-Dambaloya area.

According to SMC, the rebel group suffered losses of lives and its commander was captured.

A source within RSF said the operations come in fulfillment of the directives of president Omer Hassan al-Bashir to eradicate rebellion and establish security and stability.

He mentioned that their forces killed 5 rebels and seized 3 vehicles besides one Dushka cannon, 15 Kalashnikov rifles, a motorcycle, 3 machine guns and a large amount of ammunition.

The same source said the rest of the group fled the camp leaving behind the dead and captured, adding that the commander of the group by the name of Al-Rizeigi was also captured.

He asserted that the rebel group continued to carry out looting and carjacking operations against Kanar, Baleela and Barsaya oilfields, claiming that they were also involved in the kidnapping of Chinese oil workers.

A year ago, an armed group kidnapped three foreign oil workers including two Chinese and an Algerian during an attack on Kanar oil field in West Kordofan state.

The source emphasized that the destruction of the rebel camp marks the beginning of extensive combing operations by the RSF and other regular forces within the framework of the Decisive Summer campaign which aims to eradicate rebellion across the country.

The RSF militia, which is widely known as the Janjaweed militias, were originally mobilized by the Sudanese government to quell the insurgency that broke out in Sudan’s western region of Darfur in 2003.

The militia was activated and restructured again in August 2013 under the command of NISS to fight rebel groups in Darfur region, South Kordofan and Blue Nile states following joint attacks by Sudanese Revolutionary Front (SRF) rebels in North and South Kordofan in April 2013.
