Three opposition forces in Eastern Sudan to coordinate military action

EASTERN SUDAN, August 13, 2004 — The al-Fatah Forces, Beja Congress, and al-Usud al-Hura [The Free Lions] opposition forces held a meeting in the freed territories of Eastern Sudan to coordinate activities on the ongoing political and military affairs of the country.

In a Communiqué issued today, the three groups agreed to strengthen their unilateral and common relations to enhance and to protect the common goals and the unity of the National Democratic Alliance to realize aspirations of the Sudanese people.

The Meeting made some amendments concerning Eastern Sudan as indicated in the negotiating document of the NDA Leadership Council.

The Forces agreed to strengthen the NDA unity in the present time as well as the future.

Appreciating the heroic role played by the forces in the warring front, the meeting emphasized the Forces commitment to the NDA’s strategy for the accomplishment of peace, stability, and justice all over the Sudan.

The Forces condemned the ethnic cleansing, acts of genocide, and the divide-and-rule policies of the Khartoum Government against the people of DarFur and rejected the partisan solutions of the government to resolve problems of the country.

The meeting ascertained the Forces’ approval of the Comprehensive Political Solution for which negotiation with the government should be only handled through the Jeddah Framework to guarantee the comprehensive settlement of all problems.
