W. Bahr el Ghazal governor warns over asset distribution
October 28, 2015 (WAU) – The Governor of South Sudan’s Western Bahr el Ghazal state, Rizik Zackaria Hassan has warned citizens not to start distributing assets in response to the president’s directive on creation of 28 new states.
Governor Hassan also wondered why the nation’s citizens had resorted to speculations over positions ever since President Salva Kiir issued the 2 October decree.
“For this issue am saying there are some states that have already started up with that, after we came out in a meeting with the president last week, they immediately started doing so, but this is not yet the time,” he warned.
According to Hassan, only assets like vehicles can be shared, not roads, stressing that appointment of new the state governors would be Kiir’s role.
“After that, [the person] who will appoint governors will be the president of the Republic [of South Sudan]. Your curriculum vitae will determine your appointment as governor, but if you proclaim yourself here within local markets and everywhere as governor, you may be in a crisis,” he said.
